Dr. Turner and his team care more about billables than they do their patients.
Dr Pitzer is the best doctor, my husband and I are patients of his. He truly cares for our health, he is very communicative, explains everything in details, respectful, very wise. We are both blessed that he is our Primary care physician.
I have been a patient of Dr. Sica for quite a few years now. He is gentle and kind and extremely thorough at getting to the bottom of these rare illnesses I have. My health has improved tremendously while in his care. The staff at the Mayland clinic is so helpful and polite, too. Except for my experience with another physician there, this has been a hugely positive experience.
Dr. Pierantoni is a fantastic physician! I don't like going to the doctor, but he has a way of putting you at ease. He actually takes time to listen to your concerns and prescribes treatment accordingly. He genuinely cares about you as a patient. He's got a great sense of humor too. I can't recommend him and this clinic enough!
I have been a patient of Dr. Pierantoni for five years, going on six. I followed Dr Pierantoni from Altius family sports medicine up the road from the Mayland location. Dr Pierantoni is one of the best doctors I have had in my 55 years. I have lived in Richmond Virginia, Cleveland Ohio, Detroit Michigan, Chicago Illinois, Los Angeles California, Dallas Texas, Jacksonville Florida, and Czech republic. So for me to say he is one of the best doctors I've ever had, speaks volumes! It was well worth following him over to the mayland location. The staff and nurses are always very friendly and attentive. Dr. Pierantoni adds a personal touch that you don't see in most doctor offices these days. Not only does he listen to what you have to say, he actually hears you! He never gives you the five minute drill. Whenever I request an appointment I am seen that day but never longer than 3 days out, depending on the urgency of the visit. I have never had to wait more than 5 to 15 minutes to be seen, once I check in with the front desk. the office building that the practice is located in is very new. The waiting room is very up-to-date with many styles of comfortable seating and a television to watch while you are waiting. I've never gone into the location when it was "elbow-to-elbow". The examination rooms are well-lit, bright, very clean and up-to-date. They do have x-ray facility on site as well as blood testing. I am on a fixed income and also have Obamacare. Dr. Pierantoni knows my financial situation and always makes sure that I am getting the most bang for my buck and makes sure to keep my cost down. He sends my lab work to LabCorp so that I won't have to pay a co-pay. I have been in the welfare system before, and trust me, this location is nothing like what you think when you think VCU indigent care. This is not downtown VCU. This is a typical Westend doctor's office. I use the web portal system to message Dr. Pierantoni and get answers within 24 hour if not sooner. If you request your refills through the web portal you'll also get those refills in a timely manner, usually within 24 hours.. Keep in mind that Dr Pierantoni does have to follow medical guidelines and state laws which requires patients to be seen at least twice a year in order to prescribe medications. I'm a patient and I know that much. I understand people want what they want when they want it. But unfortunately patients don't understand the rules medical doctors must follow. If I ever move, I will have to pack up Dr Pierantoni and take him with me he's that good!!!!! Plus he always laughs at my jokes
I’ve been a patient of Dr. Sica for a few years now and I have never had a better doctor. He listens to me and helps with any health problem I have, not just the rare disorder he treats me for. He is insanely personable and hilarious, I am so thankful to have him as a doctor. My health and symptoms have become so much more manageable with his care.
Top notch medical staff executing at the highest level. I can't say enough about Dr. Pitzer who is not only my primary care physician but also my daughter's. He is truly an excellent representative of VCU health.
Convenient location, friendly stuff, and best Nephrologist Susan Di Giovanni, MD. There is lab onsite. There is a machine taking temperature right when you enter the building. All chairs are at a safe distance in the waiting room.
I was a patient with the medical group prior to being purchased by VCU and I really liked the small office feel of the place. That all changed when the VCU hospital system purchased the practice. After a couple of years of dealing with this practice I decided to leave. Don't get me wrong, the doctor was very good but the support staff, appointments, refills and just about everything else you could imagine is welfare style public health. I got better treatment in the Army and you can imagine what the V.A. system is like. I pay a lot of money for my health insurance and it is a waste to use it here. I called at noon on a Monday with a sinus infection and asked for an RX this was done a number of times over the years since I travel all of the time for work and would be out of town until that Friday. They did not bother call me back until late Thursday morning and then said, sorry, we don't call in antibiotics without seeing you. So, you have to go in, pay the deductible 200 bucks then the cost of the RX 10 bucks for something as simple as phoning in an RX. I was not calling for morphine or hard drugs mind you. The waiting room is always jammed packed yes I know it's a doctors office but your elbow to elbow with people coughing all over you, kids running around and they never, ever get you in on time. Once you are in it's a race to get you out. Then you get the bill...200 bucks for the office visit, 300 bucks for the lab work go to labcorp it's much cheaper and the insult of when you call you can't get in or they won't phone in a simple RX. This is VCU Medical at its worst. Spend your healthcare dollars and your time wisely and don't waste it here. I have changed doctors and hopefully they will be better, can't get much worse the VCU medical at Mayland.
Loving support and care is received from open ears that listen carefully to your needs and are proactive in taking care of your health. The staff are friendly and caring. The nurses are amazing in assisting in your care. Highly-rated, specialized physicians provide the best possible treatment plans that are specifically catered to each patient's healthcare needs.
