Honesty and integrity are the foundation of every good relationship.
At Veggies, we believe in those core values.
Veggies got started as a result of a conversation with the owner of Ken and Al's then current employer, family owned grocery company, Fuller Market Basket of Centralia. Ken was the Perishable Supervisor and Al, the General Manager. Both had been with Fuller's for over 15 years and in the grocery industry for over 80 years combined. A decision to close a store, leaving only one remaining store stimulated a conversation between Al and Rob Fuller on possible opportunities to 'shift' some of the overhead costs and reduce the financial burden on FMB. 7-8 years prior, Rob, Ken and Al had discussed this 'concept' and based on the inability to secure the site (which eventually became the original Veggies store), the idea was 'shelved'. In the fall of 2010, the concept was once again brought to the forefront. Ken and Al began the development, with Rob's plan on being a silent partner in this new business, 'Veggies LLC'. As Veggies LLC was being formed, Rob passed away, after battling lung cancer, in late February 2011. On April 1, 2011, the first Veggies in Chehalis opened its doors.
Both Al and Ken want to acknowledge the incredible value and blessing it was to have worked with and known Rob Fuller. While he never participated in this new business venture, we owe the impetus for its start and the values of honesty, integrity and respect, that he embodied, as core components of this business we call, "Veggies".
In the fall of 2011, Al's son, Trent, made the decision to join the company. Trent's passion was to learn the produce business and utilize the organization and management skills that he'd developed previously to help grow the company. Conversation on the Fircrest location began in the late fall of 2011 and on April 28, 2012, Veggies Fircrest, became the second Veggies store, with Trent being the Store Manager.
