Venetian Causeway

Description

The Venetian Causeway crosses Biscayne Bay between Miami on the mainland and Miami Beach on a barrier island in south Florida. The man-made Venetian Islands and non-bridge portions of the causeway were created by materials which came from the dredging of the bay. The Venetian Causeway follows the original route of the Collins Bridge, a wooden 2.5mi long structure built in 1913 by John S. Collins and Carl G. Fisher which opened up the barrier island for unprecedented growth and development. The causeway has one toll plaza (administered by the Miami-Dade County Public Works department) on Biscayne Island, the westernmost Venetian Island. The toll for an automobile is $1.75 (US).The causeway has two bascule bridges. At the Downtown/Western Beginning of the causeway travelers are greeted by two columns vertically saying "VENETIAN WAY" along with a sign indicating that there is a weight limit. At the South Beach/Eastern Terminus, drivers must choose whether to go north onto Dade Boulevard or eastbound onto 17th Street to Ocean Drive, Collins Ave/A1A, Lincoln Road, City Hall, The Convention Center, Jackie Gleason Theater and the beach.

Amazing Views, no matter if you visit in the day or at night. If you decide to walk over it, you have a nice little workout, do not underestimate how long it is. I like to walk over it and enjoy the view. Here some expressions.
Awesome. Similar to Saint Augustin's Lyons' Bridge but better views
Great route if you're visiting Miami Beach by bike or by foot. There's both a sidewalk and dedicated bike lane along the entire bridge. Some decent views of the city along the way, though somewhat obstructed by other bridges. It's quite a long bridge maybe 15 min by bike, but very minimal slopes.
This is quite a fun bridge to get stuck on when the drawbridge goes up. The views and sights are fun to take in. Often we get delayed here we wind up getting out and taking in the sights from the bay and the skyline.
It's always a treat to go across the Venetian Causeway from Miami Beach to the mainland in Miami, Florida. We enjoy seeing the gorgeous water views and the beautiful homes and landscaping.
I actually walked from mainland to the Venetian Park. This bridge has some nice views. I think the best of all that connect to Miami Beach
This was a very beautiful bridge and route to take from the mainland to Miami Beach. I wish I would've had time to walk or bike it. Such a beautiful area with breathtaking views of the city skyline.
It’s a beautiful view. The length of the bridge is approximately 1200meters, maybe 1600 depending where you park. I went from N. bayshore dr to over the bridge. Traffic was decent, every hour and half hour there’s a boat that passes. You go thru a toll if you park on the east side of the bridge. You pay for parking on the west side.
This is one of Miami’s great drive locations. Some of the quintessential Miami backdrops; cityscapes, the Miami Skyline, and the cruise ships perfectly in view. It’s even better if driving or walking it at sunrise or sunset. A great place to grab a seat and watch the boats go by.
This is a beautiful causeway to bike, walk or run. There is a dedicated bike lane painted green so it’s safer than other places in Miami to bike. Driving over is a couple dollar toll. Beautiful views of downtown Miami and Miami Beach
