The Vermillion County Public Library is on the second floor of the old Newport High School. VCPL serves approximately 7,000 residents throughout the following townships: Helt, Vermillion, Eugene, and Highland in Vermillion County, Indiana. Here are a few of the many offerings at VCPL!
-We have a gymnasium and kitchen available for use/rent for daily activities or special events. Please call to make arrangements.
-In the library itself we offer the children a large collection with their own room and craft area. We also offer children's programming and events!
-We have a large Young Adult collection and designated room for them as well. The Director loves YA books, so the collection is great, and current!
-We have 6 public computers as well as public wireless internet. We also have a copy machine and fax available for use.
-Our Adult collection is growing and many changes will come to this collection soon too!
-We are in the process of adding more programs available for all age ranges. Currently there are quite a few for children and there is always Summer Reading.
-We are also a part of the Evergreen Consortium which allows libraries throughout the state to share materials, so if we don't have it, you can still access it and have it available here for check out shortly after. We also offer Overdrive, a service that allows all of our tablet and e-reader users to "check out" e-books!
-We have quite a collection of documents in our Genealogy room as well as other equipment to help in your search. Our part time Genealogist is very helpful and available a few days a week.
-We also have meeting spaces available for use.
Parke-Vermillion Adult Education program holds classes Monday and Wednesday to help residents study to complete their High School Equivalency Exam! Call for more information.
