I recently completely a sleep study/cpap titration here. I was really impressed with the staff. They were professional and incredibly friendly.I was nervous about wearing a device on my face, being somewhat claustrophobic. But, they explained what to expect at every stage and before I knew it morning had come. I also appreciated the morning coffee after my study. My ride didn't work out and they even gave me a lift home. Thanks, folks!
Not a surprise to see a low score. This is the only doctor's office I've encountered that charges $20 to print a 1 page report. Their time, their paper! I asked if there was a way to do it myself and get this, was told, I don't think so. Which I knew was wrong. Well I called the my air 1-800 number and the woman there walked me through it, when I saw just how easy it was, I was sick, $20 for 30 seconds... Okay, I hope I can find some where else to get my masks and tubes, I rather my insurance money not even go to these people. The lady at my air didn't understand why they would need $20 to print your report. I can call my doctor's office right now and ask for a list of medications to be sent to my house, emailed, faxed or for me to pick up for free. Paying $20 to print a paper and hand it to me when I pick it up is rediculous. I will say the guy who I dealt with in saint albans was fantastic, he drove in from New York, he was the guy who preformed my sleep study. I can guarantee if I spoke to him, he would of not tried to fleece me for $20 to print a single sheet of paper, or he would of simply walked me through the simple process online.
Final review: Update 3/27//2021: If you must use this company keep in mind you must call them; you must take responsibility for follow-through. They never made a call of their own initiative to us. Every time they called us, it was returning our call, but they claimed they called of their own initiative keep written records. If you don't call them, you can spend months waiting for an update that is not coming. The last straw: We did indeed get one phone call that they initiated; they gave us a "courtesy call" before putting is in collections. During the conversation I asked the status of the equipment order that was months overdue. Their office allegedly submitted a prescription request to our PCP in October but didn't receive a prescription from our PCP, so instead of following up with the PCP or contacting us directly, they decided to do nothing. To be honest, we doubt a prescription authorization request was even sent to our PCP. In March that's four+ months later, I learn that this was wasted time and have to get the ball rolling myself. I assume they would never have contacted us in any capacity except that we were withholding payment as our only avenue to ensure this entire process was completed. In the conversations at this point, they retconned previous conversations that I was actually a party to IE: about dates doctors retired and dates of service.. After their multiple instances of dropping the ball through the entire process, we decided to pay them off and our equipment was purchased through a different venue. We didn't have to follow through with this vendor; it was ordered, it was shipped promptly and is in use as we speak. No need for constant follow-up. Don't let your health be the hostage to bad office practices. Update 10/13/2020: Posted review two weeks ago. Still no information on the sleep test done 2.5 months ago. From a new review it appears they are still taking in business, even though they can't process the data they collect. Basic process engineering: address bottlenecks to make outputs = inputs. Original review: My spouse had a test done almost two months ago. After two weeks, she called wondering when her results were going to come in. The person who answered the phone said that the person who reviewed tests retired. They also said that a new hire was "learning" how to review tests. They had no idea how long it would take to get our test results. We received a bill for the review...that hasn't been performed yet. To make it interesting, the billing date was _3 days_ after the reviewer retired. In essence, they were billing for a service they knew they couldn't perform. My wife spoke with them on the phone and said she wasn't going to pay for something she hadn't received yet. We're now going on two months with no data. BUT we still have a bill for it...and no idea when we'll actually receive it. In previous experiences similar to this, I have received email notification when someone was retiring. It shouldn't be up to the client to wonder if something is wrong and have no idea unless they contact the office. Not very happy at this point, but I would be more understanding if we had been notified pro-actively and again....NOT billed for services not performed...when they knew full well they had no provision to perform the services many days before they billed them. My recommendation at this time is if you live in Vermont, you research other options across the border in NY or NH.
Went to the facility in saint albans place is a dump and the experience was terrible. Save your time and money and go to urgent care where you can take home a head piece and do your study at home in the comfort of your own home. It was September when I went in and the carpet wasn’t even clean still had salt stains from the winter before. Had to wait till December to get my results because the dr doesn’t care about his patients and took a 3 month vacation. Beds are cheap and uncomfortable and not very clean. When I went in for my cpap fitment I tried on a mask and he put it back in the bag and back into the drawer. I doubt they clean everything like they should. The only good part was the nurse I saw for both studies as she was very professional, hard working and helpful. Because I had to wait so long to get my results it was the new year before I got the second night in and that meant a new deductible so it cost me 800 dollars out of pocket. I complained to the woman in charge of payments merely to vent at how frustrating the whole ordeal was and she went on the offensive stating that I should have known how much my deductible was and that the dr had a right to his extravagant vacation. I hope he enjoyed it as it cost me a lot of money not to mention all the terrible nights of sleep I had to endure. Aside from the nursing staff it’s apparent they don’t care about their customers and are only out to make a buck. Wish I had gone to Champlain urgent care and got the take home study equipment. Tell your dr to refer you anywhere but the Vermont sleep disorder center. Update: Been trying to get ahold of the girl in charge of supplies as I need a mask. Been trying for three months now to get ahold of her. Nothing not so much as one call back. Thinking I’ll contact my attorney and see what kind of legal action I can take against this company as they are blatantly denying me essential and much needed medical care. Sleep apnea is a serious health risk go anywhere but here!
I am surprised to read such poor reviews, I had a great experience at the Essex location. It was clean and cozy. Isaac was very professional and accommodating. I was really nervous but he made me feel very comfortable. The one suggestion I would make is to upgrade the pillows.
Glad I dont work here anymore. I was sick of having my hands tied trying to do the best for our patients. I worked at the Middlebiry office and had practically no support from our Essex junction lab which is the corporate location. I'm very sorry for any bad experiences. Middlebury lab is no more. I see a complaint here for the st albans lab, as far as I know there are still good folks who work there, but keep in mind they are only allowed to do what corporate lets them. If you have any complaints you can contact the owner Ray paquette at the Essex junction location.
I had a good experience with the home sleep study, but that is where my positive experience ended. If you have the choice to go somewhere else, I would recommend you do. I will not share more details so that I cannot be accused of liable.
They did not inform me or other patients that they are closing. I now have to start all over to get my sleep disorder treated.
Doctor Gorman is great but this company will not call you back, even for follow up visits. The ladies at the desk told me that they have too many clients and they don't make phone calls.
