The Vermont Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Resource Center, a program of the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans), is designed to provide Vermont K-8 schools with tools and assistance to build a successful Safe Routes to School Program.
We provide Vermont K-8 Schools with the tools they need to start-up, grow, and sustain meaningful safe routes to school programs. The Resource Center is a one-stop shop for schools to find out about SRTS, get practical advice and information on training and funding opportunities, and learn about available resources in their region to help make walking and biking popular choices for kids traveling to and from school.
Our mission is to assist Vermont communities, schools and parents in enabling and encouraging children, including children with disabilities, to safely walk and bike to school. We strive to equip children and their families with the knowledge, training, and technical information needed to implement successful SRTS programs. In the process, these programs are working to reduce traffic congestion, improve health, the environment, and making communities more liveable for everyone.
