Great restaurant for breakfast or lunch. Many choices of breakfast dishes of eggs, salmon bagels, pastries. Sandwiches includes east beef, French dip, pastrami, turkey and Ruben. Fresh baked bread is available for sale. Pastrami on Rye bread and salad shown
This place is absolutely wonderful! The woman who runs it is the sweetest woman I've ever met! The food is amazing! The care they have for the food and their guests is outstanding! Like no other! If you are not eating here, you are missing out ! I can't say enough great things about them they are awesome!
My family and I eat here every Sunday after church. The food is excellent, the service staff is fast, efficient and friendly. I have eaten both off the breakfast and the lunch menu and have always enjoyed the food. The desserts are excellent as well! The flavored creamers have been a nice addition lately too. I highly recommend Village Bread Cafe!
The service is always with a smile. My party of six ordered breakfast at 9:30. They have a large menu but not too big. Everything was delicious but the lox and salmon on a bagel is not made traditionally. The salmon is well done compared to traditional prep and mixed in with the lox. The taste of everything was good though.
I went to the location on San Jose Blvd on a Saturday, 3/23, at 2:45. I knew they closed at 3, but figured I could grab a quick bite - or at least get a cup of coffee. There are usually customers in there still eating after 3:00, so I didn’t think it would be a problem. When I walked in the restaurant, I couldn’t even place my order because the floors were wet from just being mopped. The waitress was taking another customer’s order near a booth. She finally got to me and said the floor was dry enough for me to walk over to to the counter. I had especially wanted a cup of coffee, but was told the urns had already been emptied. At this point I felt like I was an inconvenience and wasn’t going to pay to eat in that environment - so I told her never mind and I left to eat somewhere else. It was very disappointing. So my question is - if a business advertises they close at 3, shouldn't that mean the doors are still open until 3:00 - and they haven’t already started cleaning? I can understand that a large group shouldn’t come in and place a big order near closing - but I couldn’t even get a cup of coffee. Or maybe advertise that it’s “to-go orders only after 2:30.”
Me and my mom ate breakfast here for the first time yesterday. The cashier was very courteous and patient bc we did ask a few questions before ordering. There was a small mistake made on the order that the manager and cashier noticed me and my mom didnt even notice it but they were honest and bought it to our attention and corrected it. The food was DELICIOUS!!! The prices were even better. The restaurant was clean, and comfortable. We will definitely return.
I've been here a handful of times and normally everything is amazing. Today we waited over 30 minutes for our food and when it arrived everything was cold. Scrambled eggs were still very runny. The staff is amazing and always friendly so we will definitely give another try. Hopefully it was just an off day.
This is a local favorite. Located in a non descript Flex Office complex on US Route 1 in Jacksonville You could easily miss this restaurant. This Sunday the restaurant was full of post churchgoers enjoying brunch. Food always fresh bountiful delicious and reasonably priced. A little off the beaten path, on Phillips Highway, this place is extremely clean and very very good food!!
** UPDATE** It means alot to me that they attempted to reach out and fix their mistake. Definitely earns another start originally left a 3 start review. I plan on visiting again and will happily pay for it myself. Thanks Village Bread! **OLD** Grabbed breakfast there this morning to go, and ordered 2 over-easy eggs, ham, fruit, and a biscuit. Eggs were bland, but I can deal with that. But instead of fruit, I think I received oatmeal? Which tastes terrible I'm not an oatmeal fan anyways and this meal cost me around 9 dollars with no drink. Not a huge deal, but I would think fresh fruit vs oatmeal wouldn't be confused. I will probably try them again to reevaluate, but so far, not a good first impression. I WILL SAY, they cashier girl was very nice and sweet and it was a pleasant atmosphere. Food just wasn't worth it.
Wonderful food, BUT when you repeatedly complain about the cook short w/glasses with no gloves on, coming out of the bathroom and rinsing his hands in the side sink with no soap, then immediately shoving his hands into the hashbrowns, grabbing the bacon with no gloves after rubbing the sweat off his face, it's just downright gross and disgusting! You have a wonderful restaurant, but when someone complains and the front desk people just chuckle about it, you just end up losing long-time customers and their friends and family. Very unfortunate nothing ever is done. Maybe one day I'll return but definitely not while he is cooking. :- Update: 10/22/17 - Simply Disgusting: I finally return to try this restaurant again along with 4 family members in town visiting. The same gross employeeshort w/glasses is preparing food with no gloves on, sweating all over, grabbing bacon and putting it on plates with bare hands. Why in the world is this person still working in your restaurant?? It's so disgusting and unsanitary. I saw everyone else with purple gloves on, but he refused to put any on. Sorry to say, Kelly, he cost you about $60 this morning, because we turned around and left before ordering. Besides, I will never eat at your restaurant again, and I will let everyone else know not to either. Is it really that hard to run a clean restaurant??? Sad...
