The department is in charge of protecting over 1.5 square miles of land. The area consists of roughly 2 miles of Expressway, different industrial and commercial businesses, medical facilities, several apartment complexes, and over 17 blocks of land that over 1,570 residents call home. The department has a 31 personnel roster and every member is Paid On Call (POC) which the exception of a single full time lieutenant who mans the station during the weekdays. Shifts are carried out by POC personnel to protect & man the station during peak times. The department has 3 engines, 1 rescue squad, and 1 command/utility vehicle.
The East Hazel Crest Fire Department's objective is to save lives and property and to give the Village of East Hazel Crest, Illinois such protection in case of fire or other emergencies that may arise.
