Great food. Great service. Nice view of the water. Our server was friendly and made great suggestions for lunch. Would definitely return. We had blistered shishito peppers, an apple salad with steak and fish tacos. Everything was fresh and well prepared. We also had two cocktails that were delicious too!Food: 5/5
100% Must Visit Amazing venue, delicious food, and excellently crafted cocktails Highly recommend snagging a reservation for upstairs and enjoying with friends. You won't be disappointed. This is probably the most 4-star place I've ever been. Almost everything was great, but almost everything *also* had an issue or something holding it back from excellence. Good food overall; some disappointing dishes and some highlights. The wings and baked mac & Cheese both had excellent flavor, although the wings were rubbery and soggy. The steak and fries, though, were a pretty big letdown, especially for almost $40. A thin steak with poorly rendered fat that came out in 15 minutes is NOT what I'm looking for. While I appreciate the quickness, it's obvious the steak wasn't allowed to rest and it was obvious. The chimichurri was great, while the fries were borderline flavorless. Ambiance was just okay. There are some cool areas but we were sat directly next to the wide-open doorway of the back-of-house. Our conversation was interrupted multiple times by loud silverware clanking, breaking plates, etc. If you're a whiskey nerd, though, this is a great place for flights, fairly rare bottles, and single barrel picks. Parking: I'd suggest Republic parking garage a couple of blocks West. Its max cost is $10.
Amazing! First time in Alexandria and at Virtue Farm and Grain. The weather was perfect so my friend and I sat outside. Olivia was our waitress and she was wonderful and a constant at the table right when we needed her. The food was so good. I recommend A Berry Good Lemonade and Semolina Fried Calamari ask for a side of their House Ranch. The House Ranch would literally taste good with everything! I made make a trip to Alexandria just for the food and drinks.
Decent food and a nice atmosphere. I got the burger and it was pretty good but needed a sauce or something because the flavor was a little generic. The duck fries were good but not as good as I thought they might be. My partner got the French Dip and he enjoyed it. The service was quick and friendly. I would come here again.Food: 4/5
Our waiter, George, was so attentive. What an asset he is to this restaurant! The food was fantastic. Can't wait to go back and try new dishes. The Mac 'n cheese was delicious, the steak quesadilla was so good, as were the fish tacos.Food: 5/5
From the first days of Virtue Feed & Grain to these days what has not changed is still great. That is atmosphere and service. However the menu and quality of food and even presentation has gone far south since. I am not here to say negative things about owners/investors for pouring in money for us to brag about a great place, I am not here to say negative things about people that work for living but I sure am very disappointed with chef’s menu choices, his execution of food, and presentation of plates. Cold potatoes, I mean cold, on a Chesapeake Benedict, poor presentation of fried green tomatoes with a bunch of bland greens under hot fried food and ramekin on a plate with sauce, Soggy and literally freezing fried potatoes with duck poutine…. My god chef, did you not check your food before letting them out of your kitchen. I have been to Virtue many times and just going down and down and down. Time to take a break. Side note to management, I don’t remember seeing you around your tables, or you would have seen many ice cubes by your ice bin upstairs. Violation: ice on the floor, Correction: pick up ice cubes and wipe dry. Just disappointed. Do better please. A lot of people are making their livings from there. Shoot to kill, don’t leave me wounded. It hurts.
Been here twice and both times really enjoyed it. You can reserve on OpenTable. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Food is really good and the place is really nice! You may get lucky with street parking or there is paid garages nearby.Food: 5/5
I visited this place on a whim with no reservation maybe two hours before closing. I was excited as the overall ambiance was nice. It sits on this beautiful small street set for a hallmark movie. We were seated downstairs as the upstairs was closing soon. Our waiter was nice but honestly, the service could’ve been a little better. The Mac and cheese, so good!! The shrimp tacos, also good!! The fajitas, were unfortunately not good and jam packed with peppers. I would visits again in the daytime for the vibes and for the mac and cheese.
Food was excellent. Loved the fact that they had kids' options. Space was simply beautiful. Went around 8:30pm on a weeknight and was able to get a table for a party of 7. Portion sizes were big enough for sharing. So we ended up getting a few dishes and shared it around the table. Overall, a great dining experience. Definitely coming back for more! Crab dip is highly recommended. P.S. 1/2 off Wine bottles under $100 on Wednesdays is the best! Kid-friendliness: Their menu included a portion for "young eaters". It's definitely a plus!
