one bad ass metal artist
Below is my artist information but please let me just break it down.......I work with stainless steel and heat from desert sun, paint and water. Never have I seen such a likeness to where I come from...what I dream of and to where I return to.
Hello to all, my name is Brenna Curry and I paint on metal.
As I create in my southern Arizona high desert office temperatures, humidity, wind and times of day plays more a control than ideal of me having control of a piece. Of course I also get to play with color choices styling from a vast stock of my images in memory than like magic a partnership or dance of my environments elements and raw source materials elements. Than with a controlled amount of water and wind (never controlled and usually very) a water color on metal is created. Then fire literally baking the piece from the sun the water evaporates leaving a 3d image of water on a 2d sheet of metal. In words IT STILL LOOKS WET. Adding more wet layers atop of the last giving the metal an illusion of depth that you will want to touch, so please touch.
My metal works are mostly on stainless steel, as an element I like the feel of metal and exposing the metal under the paint gives a holographic feeling, the piece moves and changes as you move and change around it.
Please take a look at my woven metal work, yes hand woven, double sided, finished with copper rivets. Sizes can vary 2x2ft to 5x5ft strips are painted flipped painted, than repeat horz.to vert. than carefully woven, drilled and riveted. Endless possibilities for designers of interior, exterior, private residential collectors to large commercial installations.
I presently reside in Bisbee Arizona and run my own studio, but mostly embracing my joy and the energies I feel here. I mean hooray just take a look at my office photo. Living the dream baby, wouldn’t have it any other way.
