Dr. and Mrs. Weiland care very much about their dogs and their clients. They put a great deal of love, time, and effort into their breeding program, dogs, and litters. In June 2016, we obtained a beautiful GSD puppy from them that was the result of a first time breeding b/w their sire, Bear, and dam, Ebigheil. At the age of 1.5-yrs, our dog Bullet, expressed demodex mites, which indicates a genetic defect. About the same time, he began to have significant skin issues w/ bleeding lesions. After several thousands of dollars in vet bills, we finally obtained a working diagnosis from NC State Veterinarian School & Veterinarians' Specialty Hospitals of Cary. He was diagnosed with an exceedingly rare skin disorder called: "sterile pyogranulomatous dermatitis." Four months into treating this condition, our boy died at the age of 3.5-yrs old from causes unknown. We do not blame the Weilands for this. Unfortunately, this is the risk you take when obtaining a puppy from a first-time breeding pair. Bullet was everything we had wanted in a GSD. Magnificent physical specimen, great neural temperament, and loving to our family. We miss him very much. However, I cannot recommend a puppy produced by a Bear & Ebigheil mating.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS KENNEL. The dog we bought in 2017 from VomWeiland has had several medical issues since he was six months old. He almost died from a GI issue the cause of which was never was found. After $3,500 at the NCSU vet school, $1,000 at VSH, etc. He has also been diagnosed with Stage 1 kidney disease. Read your guarantee carefully. His hips were guaranteed to pass the OFA. The x-rays showed our dog has mild hip dysplasia. The first paragraph of the guarantee reads that if the dog is shown to have hip dysplasia that you could get a replacement puppy why would you from the same breeder? or a refund. BUT READ ON TO THE BOTTOM OF THE AGREEMENT!! It states the only way you would get a refund is if you return the dog. After two years of training and bonding who would do that? Had we read our agreement carefully we could have had a PennHIP procedure done when he was a puppy to show the likelihood of his developing HD and then had a Juvenile Pubic Symphysiodesis done. He would not ever have to suffer crippling hip dysplasia he now faces.
When I started to look for a new GSD puppy, which was going to be our 5th German Shepherd, I looked at over 300 websites in the USA! I called several breeders, but upon taking to Sandra Weiland I felt VERY comfortable that I would be getting the top notch breeding I was searching for. Being a very small kennel, the planned breedings are well thought out to insure an improvement to the breed! - which is very important. All documentation of the breeding pair was on the website - pedigree, x-rays, certificates, etc. ALL the information you need to know about purchasing a puppy was stated on the website along with pictures of her dogs. I chose Sandra Weiland as the breeeder of my next GSD based on her GSD ethics and the quality of previous puppies. I quickly put in my deposit and was placed on the waiting list. I was soooooo pleased 3 weeks later to know a litter was born and I was getting a Vom Weiland puppy : Many breeders will not ship their puppies, but Sandra took the time to ensure my puppy was shipped securely and safely. I have had Zocha for 7 months now and can not be more HAPPY. She is EXACTLY what I expected from this quality breeder. Any questions, go to You Tube and see her dogs in Schutzhund action. Better yet, give Sandra a call and talk to her. You'd want one of her precious pups too. I LOVE my girl and will be back for my next GSD.
We have searched for months trying to find high quality GSD puppies. VomWeiland is the best we found! We love our new puppy and could not be happier with the service, quality, and price we received!
I've emailed, but have not yet heard back. Per their website they may no longer be breeding due to COVID-19.
