We have been staying there for the month of July for 7 years now. This year the city has added more RV sites and there is a host, which was awesome. Thanks Greg for keeping up the campground. There are a lot of construction workers staying and more seasonal people. For us it's a great place to stay as we use the Fargo VA and then go to Fergus falls for Dr appts. We did notice a few people staying that were homeless and their sites were littered and the kids would run amok all day. No campground etiquette was taught to the kids. The bathrooms we don't use but there are showers as well. There are many sites for tents as well but with no hook ups. Alot of overnight travelers coming thru. There are picnic tables and a fire pit but both are for two sites as the sites are door to door. You can ask the host to bring another picnic table over. The host has a big garden and had shared some cucumbers with us. Great little perk. It's a great small town campground. We hope it doesn't turn into a seasonal as we have seen in other small towns and you can't get into anymore for overnights or short periods. Good job Barnesville!
The campsite and grounds were nice. It was unclear where to tent/car camp… just took a couple drives through to sort it out. There’s road noise, highway and surface streets. The bathrooms are a little dirty and unkept. 10x nicer than a Walmart parking lot. 10x shabbier than the KOA I stayed at the night before.
This little campground was fantastic! Great back in and pull thru sites, full hookups, bathhouses with showers, they weren't working while we were there but we didn't need them. We stopped just for an overnight but for $30 including taxes and fees for a FHU spot it was perfect. It was close off the highway but no road noise. It looks like they are expanding and adding sites which is great. We will be returning.
This will be our 3rd season at Wagner, while we are up north home for the summer. Such a beautiful campground with water nearby, lots of wildlife, trees, and so much green space. The number of spaces is increasing this year, and there is now a host couple to help with last-minute bookings and such. Best kept secret around these parts, being a quick 25 miles from Fargo one direction and several Minnesota lakes another. The city itself offers restaurants, gas, fast food, shopping, library, post office, Dollar General newly expanded, a full grocery store that serves hot lunches, a marked walking trail and several family-friendly parks one with a lake! to enjoy.
Nice campground. Sites are very close to each other. Difficult to know which sites are reserved when one enters the park. Some municipal parks have a post holding signs when sites are reserved, showing dates. Bathroom set up nicely. Each shower stall should have a bench. Hooks are in good location.
Take the Detroit Lakes exit, turn right and it's about a 1/2 a mile down on your right. Big blue and white sign
The campground has a nice green space and good location right off of the interstate but a serious water issue. The water smells really bad like iron and rust. The toilet inside our RV had brown stains from the water. Our water filter was not even useful.
Nice quiet park. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They do need more garbage bins.Location: 5/5
Primitive campground is very good BUT shower house and bathroom was filthy. Stayed for a month so not a one night observation. One stall in men's bathroom without toilet paper for 3 days. City could do a much better job in having a clean and well maintained shower house and bathrooms.
This place is a hidden gem! We are tent campers who roadtrip with a dog. We look for safe, inexpensive options that allow us to show up late, and showers are a nice bonus. We made reservations online the day of, arrived at 1am, set up camp/tent quietly although our tent 'neighbors' were a good distance away in the field, slept, and had a hot shower in the morning before we left. All for under $17 and right off the highway, although highway traffic isn't as loud as we were expecting... That's perfect! We were there Saturday of Labor day weekend, and there was still plenty of room/field available for tent camping. Will be back!
