Absolutely wonderful for a Walmart DC. I'm usually prepared to spend 5 hours gate to gate, but was only 3 hours. It was a pretty good day. Staff is the typical friendly & professional.
5 hours to off load then they expect you to leave the facility. The closest truck stop is around 35-40 minutes away and they are always packed out before 3 pm. This Walmart is the slowest in the country!!!! AVOID
They’ve added a new hoop to jump through here at Shelbyville. You now have to take a picture of the chocked tire, and you better make sure you get the dock number on the wall in the picture or they’ll send you back to do it over. Making us do this now, it seems like they look down on all us drivers like we’re retarded, unable to read 3 numbers properly. Make sure you ask them for your certificate for passing their new photography class, truck driver.
Other than a paperwork snafu from the shipper & Benjamin Woods at the receiving window being a complete, degrading control freak, my experience was positive. In door, unloaded, paperwork in hand and out the gate in roughly an hour. The town of Shelbyville wants the convenience & jobs of Walmart DC but not the trucks. ZERO parking anywhere close 20+miles North. Shameful. Larger facilities , DC’s & municipalities should be required to include some truck parking to help accommodate. But no, Shelbyville simply adds to their funds by handing out tickets.
Love this DC. In adverse weather, I prefer to use the 4 lane highways to get there. SOUTHBOUND From Murfreesboro just take the US 231 down. NORTHBOUND From Manchester: TN 55 to US 41A to US 231. If you Google map this route be careful as it tries to cut you thru neighborhoods just before the intersections I listed above.
Never see this before you need to take a picture of door chock and DOOR number can’t check in without a proof that you can read your door number , they need proof that we can read numbers , also no park around , recommend going to the Walmart plaza in town , but most said guard lady really nice person , receiving person not unfriendly but no nice either
Friendly people...arrive 45 minutes early..so you have time to get past guard shack, dock&drop trailer, take photo of dock# and wheel chock in place, then walk to receiving office to check in for your appointment time..Bring the photo!!
The guy from receiving tell me to pick up the paper and get out because some one is behind, so I connect get out from the door and park a little farther to send all information for my company and receive my net pick up to know where I'm going because there is not parking closer. Because the tablet from the company not allow me to send all information if i get out from the perimeter. The guy call me with attitude I need to get out and get to the gard, I try to explain him but his have attitude and I handout the phone. I always delivery every walmart and I never have this situation always do the same and get out.
Appointment was at 1810. Arrived late at 1900. They gave us a door when we got to the gate even though we were late. Called at 2100 to come get paperwork and out the gate by 2120. HAVE TO TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR DOOR NUMBER AND YOUR WHEEL CHALK AND YOUR TANDEMS ALL THE WAY TO THE BACK. Otherwise they'll send you back out to do that before they take your paperwork.
Great experience overall! I checked in at 3:50 am for 5 am appointment. Guard shack lady was very polite & helpful. She given me a door right away. After backing up to the door. I took the paperwork to the receiving office at door 526. At 5:30 am received back paperwork & out of the facility by 5:45 am. Parking note- there is no parking nearby the facility. Closest truck parking is at exit 81 of l-24 or Loves & shell truck stops at exit 89 of l-24 both are roughly 25-30 miles radius. There is a small Serve N Go gas station two miles from the facility, but it doesn’t have an official truck parking area. There is some space to park truck at gas station along the wooden fence but there are sign stating no parking so I won’t park there for more then 2-3 hrs if anything.
