Walter's Original Soul Food Cafe

I’ve been here a couple times after swinging by on work trips. It’s as real as it gets in terms of soul food— the genuine ambiance, southern hospitality from the front lady, and the homestyle quality of all the food. Highly recommend the fried chicken, oxtail, and sweet tea. Very reasonable prices too. Definitely made it onto my list of local staple spots.

It's just a hole in the wall dining counter. The service was quick and friendly. The food was too salty for me. I eat more fresh vegetables so the side plate I got was really salty. The cornbread was good though. I think other people may like it but it wasn't my preference.Food: 3/5

This was my second time eating here, the first time I ordered the fried catfish dinner and it was good. This time I ordered the fried whiting dinner with 2 sides. The fish was big and you get 2 pieces just like with the catfish dinner, but the whiting had way too much bread for me and some of the batter was still wet. Also, the fish itself looked and tasted like it wasn't fully cooked either. It was pink and mushy in some places. The Mac n cheese and yams were good. I will stick with the catfish from now on but if you order the whiting I would tell them lightly breaded and fried hard. Vegetarian options: They have veggie plates

This was my 1st time in this restaurant and I loved it.. I've found me a new kitchen to eat from‼‼ I had the catfish dinner thst was cooked to order so it was hot and delicious. I had cabbage, cornbread, mac n cheese and candied yams on my plate. It was only 15$ and I couldn't believe the price...I would have paid 20$+ for that meal. I will ne back.

The food didn't look very appetizing at all. It looked like it had been sitting out ALL DAY. I ordered anyway. It tasted decent. Don't think I'll be going back tho.Food: 3/5

I used to own a restaurant so I definitely can tell when chicken is heated up and reserved. It makes me feel disrespected. I also cook chicken often for my family so I definitely know how it looks the next day

If yall want an authentic down "Souf" yeah I said Souf, soul-touching meal. This is the spot! And the family environment makes it all the better. I go bout 2-3 times a week!Food: 5/5

Go to other location. The service here is trash. The lady pride was so in the way I couldn't get my food. I'll keep going to Cleveland avenue. Food looked good though I can't hate on that.Food: 4/5

Service slow and food disappointing. ordered lemon pepper wings, dressing and Mac & cheese. Dressing too much sage and/or thyme, too salty. Wings rubbery, wings were BBQ, I ordered lemon pepper. Mac & cheese-old. Not returning.Food: 1/5
