Washington City’s Social Media Policy: The purpose of the Washington City Government social media pages it to serve as a method for communication between Washington City and the members of the public. For more information about Washington City, please visit WashingtonCity.org. All content created or posted on the Washington City social media pages belongs to the city and maybe considered a public record. Washington City reserves the right to restrict or remove any content that is deemed to be in violation of Washington City’s Social Media Policy or any applicable law. Comments, videos, and photos containing any of the following types of content shall not be allowed.
A. Profane language or content;
B. Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, national origin, physical or mental disability or sexual orientation.
C. Sexual content or links to sexual content;
D. Solicitation of commerce;
E. Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity;
F. Information that may tend to compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems;
G. Comments made which are prohibited by law from being supported by public funds;
H. Content that violates a legal ownership interest or any other party;
I. Comments not topically related to the particular social media post being commented upon, including random unintelligible comments;
Social Media is a 24/7 medium; however, the monitoring of our social media pages is not. We will respond to questions and comments during normal business hours. No requests for emergency services, or other immediate responses, should be made via social media. We may not be aware of inappropriate comments right away, therefore we requests that any such comments, personal attacks, or negative speech are either ignored or responded to politely.
