I had an excellent experience at the Dulles airport. Arrived on Sunday evening around 19:00 and had a totally hassle free immigration experience which was swift and orderly. The airport has easy connections into the city through both public transport and taxis
I find it quite embarrassing that United has a hub at this airport. This is the main airport for capital city of the US so I expect it to be better. The United midfield concourses C and D are very outdated with minimal natural lighting and it is drenched with carpet which makes it a pain in the butt to drag a suitcase. You have to take a bus to the concourse which is very bumpy and takes a long time. Security is very efficient though and I think it’s nice that you don’t have to take electronics out of your bag. I have flown out of DCA and BWI a lot of times, they were nicer, and I haven’t been to this airport in 5 years. But I am giving this a 4 star rating because I have been to the A and B midfield concourses of this airport a long time ago and I could say those concourses are much nicer. The architecture of the check in area is also pretty cool.
This airport is pretty nice and quite challenging if you do not pay attention. Once your flight arrives, you will be getting into a terminal, then keep walking towards the shuttle bus that will take you to all terminals and the luggage claim section. At first I thought it was a small airport but it is not at all. On the departure terminal, your airline is scheduled to take off, get there with enough time, and use the machines to print your boarding pass and the luggage tag. Then, keep walking towards the security area, later on, go down to take a train to your actual departure terminal. Pretty nice walk and clear instructions everywhere, but remember, this is an international airport.
Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C., offers modern facilities and efficient security procedures, making it a convenient gateway for international travelers. The airport's unique architecture and diverse amenities add to the experience. However, its expansive layout may require extra time for navigation, and some visitors might find prices slightly higher. Overall, it serves as a well-equipped travel hub with ample transportation options.
Dulles International Airport is known as IAD Airport. It's an international Airport serving passengers to or from Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia. This Airport can be very busy during peak times. It has adequate facilities to cater for the passengers inbound and outbound. A train transport usually takes passengers to departure gates and if you are arriving, same train takes you to baggage claim. Have a safe flight
Visited Dulles International Airport recently and was impressed by its vastness and cleanliness. Efficient services and a well-maintained infrastructure. A commendable travel experience.
Easy in-out to drop of passengers. Used short term parking, $6.00 the parking lost was confusing to get out and had to go through a gyration of parking lot before i could figure out how to get there. Dulles Parking Staff should review their signage, and ensure they’re properly places, enough of them, and updated to the current conditions of the lot - Also ensure the reflective signage works arrived there at 0430 am and left at around 0500 am.
Purely getting 5 stars because I’ve spent the past 6 days dealing with cancellations and mechanical issues, getting bounced from city to city and having Delta make me feel like the fact that it’s taken me 6 days to commute for work is of my doing and I should ‘be better prepared.’ Whatever that means. My experience today at Dulles with United has been amazingly smooth, no hiccups. For a larger airport I find it very easy to commute through and navigate. The main United sections can become a bit chaotic at times as they all are but of places I commute through I’ll gladly rank this high on my list. It has the usual amenities with overall nothing to write home about but you’ll find food and quiet places to relax. Here’s my solid hint the bridge that goes to gates A1A to A6E there’s a small almost uninhabited area you can hide on the longer layovers. Otherwise lots of lounges, lots of shopping, lots to see.
This is my favorite international airport and I carry so many happy tearful memories with it. Somehow i felt this airport is emotionally connected to me; I used other international airports in united states like JKF etc.. but this one is too good for easy access say like travel to airport, luggage check-in, boarding, check-out, auto check-in, port of entry for immigration are all handled and maintained very well. Staffs here really good and supportive. Waiting area, announcement, cafeteria, flight services are easily accessible.
IAD airport offers a convenient travel experience with its well-organized terminals and efficient security processes. The variety of shops and dining options available make layovers enjoyable, while the clear signage helps navigate the large facility. However, occasional delays and limited public transportation options can be a downside. Overall, IAD provides a positive flying experience, but there's still room for improvement.
