What a cute little park in the heart of Springfield. We stopped by the stretch our legs after a long drive and we’re hoping to hear the bells in the tower. Unfortunately we were there to early in the day, but we did get to hear the on the half hour bells. The flower gardens were beautiful and well maintained for the most part. They did just have a horrible storm come through but had the park cleaned up for the most part.
It was my first time visiting Washington Park. Despite coming to see it in the winter, it was beautiful! I also thought it was so cool to have an indoor botanical garden to be able to see beautiful flowers throughout the year. Bring a penny and two quarters to get to make a botanical garden penny. This is definitely a park I will come back to see every season.
Lovely park. It's very large and has a lot to see. It hosts an abundance of wildlife and plenty of plant life even outside of the botanical gardens.
This place is amazing with beautiful flowers, shrubs, and trees, Mini gardens, and fountains. The sound of the bell's going off on the hour, truly something not to miss if you're in Springfield. I would share photos, but I'm trying to be in the moment and photos really don't do it, Justice. You have to go and experience it.
A very nice open area park with excellent paved walkways and some hard pack dirt walking trails in this great Urban Park. There is a lot to see and appreciate. PLEASE DO NOT feed the ducks in the park. It really causes problems with their diet!! Playground: Plenty of newer playground equipment as well as a children care center. Very organized and safe. Restrooms: Clean flush toilets are all along public areas and pavilions. Dog-friendliness: All dogs on a leash allowed in outside areas. Excellent walking paths and dedicated safe zones on the one-way roads. Picnic area: Tables are all around park.
Big fan of going on daily walks through here. I've been doing it constantly for the better part of this year. I got to watch all the new life pop up in the spring. Now that we are entering fall, all the little duckies and geese are starting to mature and its been a very comforting experience seeing the day to day progression. On top of that the scenery really portrays the beauty of the mid west. I was born and raised in the 217, but i have lived in 7 other states. In general I really don't like the mid west. It has pockets of beauty in mainly a see of racist sun down towns. This park is a break from that. And its more than just a pocket of beauty. Restrooms: There are a couple of gendered bathrooms throughout the park. One set near the playground and the other near the gelato stand. I havn't seen them be anything less than pristine for park bathrooms. Very well kept.
Nice place for a walk, jogging or running. Visit the Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon which is one of the largest and finest carillons.
Washington Park is one of Springfield's best gems! We love going early in the morning and playing on the playground, walking the park, and enjoying the beautiful weather. One of our favorite features is a swing that fits a small child and adult. Our son loves to swing and this is perfect. They have a great area for young children and older children.
The have such a beautiful garden here. We originally did go for the botanical garden and had no idea they had gardens beyond that! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. So beautiful
Hadn't been there in years. Didn't know about the new kiddie stuff. My great granddaughter loved the swings and the sandbox. Had a great time! It's always been a great park as far as I'm concerned! We'll be back!
