The Washington State Park system is one of the largest and most diverse park systems in the country, with more than 100 developed parks, long-distance land and water trails, heritage sites and interpretive centers, boating safety, winter recreation and other recreation programs.
The mission of the park system is to care for Washington's most treasured lands, waters and historic places. State parks connect all Washingtonians to their diverse natural and cultural heritage and provide memorable recreational and educational experiences that enhance their lives.
The Washington state park system is one of the oldest in the country and celebrated its 100th birthday in 2013.
