WUSTL CAC works to increase the number of low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students in the St. Louis area who enter and complete higher education
Our Mission:
The Washington University College Advising Corps works to increase the number of low-income, first generation college, and underrepresented high school students in the St. Louis area who enter and complete higher education. We believe that all students deserve that chance to reach their potential to create a better future - regardless of income or environment.
Our Model:
At WUSTL CAC, we use a "neer-peer" model. Recent graduates serve as advisers, which allows high school students to more easily develop relationships and trust.
Our Goal:
Building a college-going culture is our goal. The average students spends less than 20 minutes per year with a guidance counselor. Our advisers help students navigate the college decision making process, by introducing them to the college-going culture.
Our Process:
Advisers help students identify and apply to post-secondary programs that will best serve them, both academically and socially.
