I had two choices, xfinity + waveg; I decided to go with waveg. On the day I was trying to start my service; had a technician scheduled to come, but no one ever came. I called the customer service; they said I personally cancelled the service order with the reason "Error", but I never did, and the next available schedule was a week later so no home internet for a week. They probably didn't have enough people so they lied about it. Funny thing was I received an automated call yesterday to confirm the appointment, and also when I checked the website, it had a banner saying a technician should be coming soon. If I had a go again, I would choose the safer option, xfinity as terrible as that sounds. EDIT 1: Having a blast /s. I emailed the person who responded, and he said that my internet can be remotely activated by calling the customer support number, but contradicts another customer rep I called yesterday to ask for remote activation who said only a technician can activate it. Anyways, I decided to call because I want my internet now. Within minutes, she told me she "remotely activated" it, I said give me a minute to double check turned on my router... Guess what? Still doesn't work! She told me it can take 5 minutes to activate and I said ok, so she hung up on me. 10 minutes passed, still nothing. I decided to waste more of my time to call their wonderful service line. Another rep told me it can take 1-24 hours to work because "fiber optics" is fragile such logic. Let's see if this review gets another edit in a day. EDIT 2: I am ecstatic to finally have the internet running, but that was after four annoying calls with misleading information. Updated to two stars because the speeds look decent for the price.
Astound Broadband makes the internet connection simple and safe. Before an installer visited my apartment, a courtesy call sent to me to confirm the date and time for installation. On the installation date, the installer came on time with a mask on. He completed the installation for me within half an hour and explained to me how to seek assistance for Astound further service. Now I have used the Astound Broadband for a week. It's stable, fast and excellent for me and my husband both working from home. Astound Broadband highly recommended.
For the love of god please don't give your money to these clowns. You'll never get the speeds they promise and if you happen to face an outage trust me, you will, then be prepared to get zero help from them. Internet has been out for more than 30 hours as I write this in Redmond and this company has provided zero updates on what's going on or when the service will be restored. Calling their "customer service" takes you to an automated system that keeps shifting their "estimate" by two hours. Reaching a human is literally impossible, and if you do get lucky and reach someone, prepare to be treated very poorly. Worst company ever.
I signed up with Wave Astound 2 month ago. I waited for my bill first bill but it never came so I called Jeff who installed my internet. He said it was sent eventually it came. Today I was charge $15 for late fee. Deceptive billing period! Try and tried to contact Astound customer service to clear my late fee. I waited until my cellphone battery run low that I have to hanged up. I hope someone from Astound would contact me. I have a good habit of always paying my bill early.
This company is entirely tone-deaf to customer issues. When you pay for a service, you expect that service to work consistently and with very little issue. This is not the case with Astound Broadband. When the company was operated by Wave Broadband, you very rarely had the level of outages that have occurred recently. The internet regularly goes down, and their responses are inappropriate. Check their Twitter support account, which is automated nonsense that won't bother to acknowledge mass outages. It's looking like it's time to switch services; enough is enough.
Do you enjoy playing “Will I have no internet today for no plausible reason?” If so, Astound is the ISP for you! You will enjoy: multiple outages within a few months, some lasting hours or even days. If you love not having any idea when service will be restored and clueless CS reps not their fault, just shows how bad communication is within the company and how bad their telemetry is, you will love this! PS, if they can’t restore service remotely, they will give you a 12-hour window you have to sit at home for, waiting for a technician. If you don’t have 12 hours that day, they can reschedule it for like, two weeks from now, so you can be without service for those two weeks. And still sit at home 12 hours for.
I had Wave as my ISP for years and although it was basic and customer service was mediocre, it was fine. I recently canceled my service to try T-Mobile's 5g home internet, which had other issues, so I went back to wave and scheduled installation not sure what they had to install since I'd canceled my service less than a week earlier but whatever. Installation schedule for Saturday between 8-10am. I get an automated call at 8 saying the technician is on his way, so I sit in my living room where I can see the door and driveway, phone next to me, and wait. At 9:15, no one has shown up so I contact Astound chat customer service who finally tells me the technician couldn't access my home, and would I like to reschedule? After more research, the CS agent says there are notes saying the installation guy called and knocked on the door a lot, which is completely false. So here we are, 9:45 on Saturday, after I wasted my morning sitting around, then NOT BEING NOTIFIED that my installation wasn't happening, and telling the CS rep to cancel it because there's no way she could give me contact info for a local dispatch office. Their internet is fine, but the customer service is atrocious.
Please be aware of fees they do NOT disclose to you, and rushed service that does not answer your issue. There are other, better options. We had issues with our internet for almost a whole week, eventually called and a rep said they would send a technician. I very directly asked what the bill would be and was told no fee since we are using our own equipment. The appointment would be any time in the day between 8-4, we’d have to be on standby the whole day. Fine… I gave my partner’s number as the contact because I would be busy and he works much closer to get home for a visit. 4pm hits, and no call. Then MY number gets a call close to 6pm that I miss. Luckily I catch it quickly enough and scramble to get my partner to call back, as I am still working and that’s exactly why I gave his number! Technician comes, but then is rude and rushes to tell my partner “probably just need a new router.” So we go through the trouble of getting and setting up a brand new router… and it didn’t fix it!! Money wasted on a new router for no reason, now I have to go through the hassle of returning for my money back. After that I canceled and switched to Xfinity. Now, a couple days after canceling, I now got a bill for the technician visit that didn’t even resolve our issue and that I was told didn’t have a fee. Very confusing process and lacking customer service and support. I now have better internet and for less money.
Works when it works, but god forbid when it's down - a complete nightmare to get support to fix any issues. Have gone without internet for 3+ days at a time, and customer support can't do anything but offer a lousy $10 bill credit. We live in a hybrid work world today and not having access to this utility is more inconvenient than ever. Look for a more reliable provider.
Customer service is garbage, I put for gig speed internet and only get 17mbps down on average. They don’t want to help and it goes down every 2-3 weeks for about a day. Also they raised my rates after 3 months of service after I had supposedly locked in my rate for 2 years. STAY AWAY IF YOU CAN slow, unreliable, unhelpful.
