A runner and bicyclists delight! Lots of flat, paved surfaces and a number of loops to add up the miles. The music stage is a wonderful venue for a concert. Plenty of water fountains as well. Ample parking. Overall not alot to see here but a great place for athletes to get in some miles.
We went to the Lantern Festival, It was so a beautiful night, and an experience. I would not recommend it because there was food options of Mexican, Mexican or Mexican food. No Lid friendly options. NO COMMUNICATION!! We spent one hour trying to find where to go? The attendants were CLUELESS. This resulted in us looking for over an hour. The DSM Symphony about a mile and a half prior to the lantern fest had a beverage tent and plenty of food trucks with a huge variety. Oh, and FREE parking. We had to exit, drive all the way around and then saw Pay! No communication, zero organization and for a substantial amount.
I noticed some changes in the arts, buildings or out buildings.. The under road path makes easy access to Gray's Lake and the exercise trails. Potential for many more events.
Love the fact Irish Run horse farm is on the walking trail... always pleasure to see the horses. Only minus about Water Works, need a few more restroom stops.

My g son is from out of town and had the best time with his cousin at the park. I also ho to listen to some live music. It was such a relaxing time for us all!
Nice place in the middle of town. I am guessing the amphitheater has some great shows. Some nice little fishing and picnic areas all around. Would be a great place to take the kids for lunch and some adventures. There is a public restroom and drinking fountains, but would bring your own just in case. Will be back.
I enjoy walking off the paths and exploring. I'm still new to Iowa, and I just recently found this spot across from Gray's Lake. Love this place.
Went on a gorgeous walk with the kids. Everyone was super understanding of my little ones and just a general positive vibe was felt. Going to picnic soon. Great trail over the bridge and next to the river.
The trails in and around Water Works Park near Downtown Des Moines were full of activity. The perfect blend of nature and activity.
