Wayne County Historical Museum

This museum is amazing! It's huge! If you want to know anything about the history of the area this is the place to go. The women that work there are very friendly and made me feel like we were family from the start. They took 2 1/2 hours out of their busy day to give a personal free tour of the place for me, my grandmother, and my great aunt. I cannot thank them enough for giving their time and sharing their knowledge with us! There are 4 stories to the museum and in the basement there is a hidden entrance to a cave under the town. It is one of the best little museums I have ever visited! It doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is full of priceless gems of our nation's history.

The volunteer/lady at the front was ever so cute and very nice. She gave us a tour and shared amazing personal stories with us. She was a great hostess/tour guide

Went to check on family history and the museum has grown since last visit. Way larger than it looks and they are still growing. Enjoyed the stagecoach inside and the individual rooms, each with different theme.

AN IMPRESSIVE ASSET TO WAYNE COUNTY , A FASCINATING ADVENTURE THAT IS WORTH YOUR TIME , AN EXCELLENT COLLECTION OF HISTORICAL OBJECTS AND ARTIFACTS FROM OUR COUNTY AND old Appalachia with an emphasis on the bluegrass state , A GREAT PLACE TO TAKE VISITORS AND FAMILY , THE STAFF IS HELPFUL AND VERY FRIENDLY , MORE THAN HAPPY TO ANSWER QUESTIONS AND PROVIDE ASSISTANCE , #1 ON MY FAVORITE LIST OF WAYNE COUNTY PLACES.

Ladies were very friends and helpful. Loved viewing all about the history of Monticello. Make sure you have time to really look. It will take about 2-3 hours.
