The Wayne Volunteer Fire Department has been in active service for more than 90 years, always utilizing dedicated volunteer citizens of Wayne County.
The Wayne Volunteer Fire Department serves Rural Fire District #2 covering nearly 150 square miles of Wayne County. Protecting nearly 10,000 residents in our response district with 12 active Fire and Rescue apparatus.
We, being convinced of the great service to a community that can be derived from a well-regulated fire department in times of fires and disaster, and the assistance the fire department gives in preserving the property and lives of our fellow citizens from the destruction of fires, have formed ourselves into an incorporated association called the Wayne Volunteer Firefighter’s Association of Wayne, Nebraska.
Our purpose is to train ourselves to fight fires with the greatest efficiency in order to save the lives of our citizens and their property.
