We are a friendly Writing Center located in the Academic Resource Center.
Make an appointment with one of our Writing Coaches at:
http://webster.mywconline.com
Students in all academic disciplines are invited to bring to the Writing Center papers in any stage of planning, drafting, revising, or editing. In the Writing Center, we will set you up with an individualized coaching session. Graduate coaches are available for Webster graduate students. Students from Webster's extended campuses are invited to send their papers to the Online Writing Center.
Writing Center coaches help students develop strategies to learn how to improve and polish their writing skills and meet predetermined assignment goals. The coaches will not write or edit papers for students; instead, they will listen, read carefully, ask questions, and provide guided practice to build confidence in the student's own writing and editing abilities.
We believe we will better assist you as "coaches" than as proofreaders or editors. In your session, your coach will:
* Ask questions about the assignment and your paper
* Read your paper
* Comment on global issues (focus, development, organization, logic, clarity)
* Help you determine where you might tighten and polish your prose
* Discuss documentation and citation conventions
* Point out patterns of mechanical and grammatical problems and provide suggestions on how you can learn to recognize and correct them
Stop by and see us sometime in the Academic Resource Center!
The Webster University Writing Center provides a friendly, welcoming place where students receive one-on-one coaching in order to become independent writers and demystify the writing process. Webster believes that effective writing, with its integration of communication techniques and critical thinking abilities, is necessary for people to function successfully and productively in a complex society that requires its members to be lifelong, independent learners.
