The Wellness Council of Indiana promotes health and productivity to Indiana workplaces and communities
The Wellness Council of Indiana is a 501C (3) organization of Indiana Business leaders dedicated to promoting healthier lifestyles for all citizens of Indiana through health promotion activities at the worksite. Organized in 1988, we bring together Indiana employers interested in combating the ever increasing cost of health care benefits by helping their employees, their families and their communities achieve and maintain a state of good health. Experts say that well over 60 percent of all health benefit costs are related to unhealthy life style habits. Habits that can be changed. It makes no difference whether you have five employees or five thousand, the relative impact is the same. Since employees spend one third of their waking hours at work, the workplace offers the logical opportunity to provide employees with health promotion information, encouragement and support for making life style changes that will result in better overall health and well being. This not only provides the opportunity to reduce health care costs, but also has the potential of reducing absenteeism, improving productivity, employee morale and corporate culture.
