HOTTEST SPA IN NEW JERSEY WITH A SAUNA UP TO 230 DEGREES (CLOTHING OPTIONAL)! OPENNESS, WELLNESS, AND COMFORT IS OUR MISSION!
Built in 1902, the International Steam Bath house in Banya, combines old world charm with modern amenities in a distinctively Russian style. For more than a hundred years, many of the area’s Russian immigrants and other eastern Europeans have come to the spa for its renowned sauna and steam.
At temperatures up to 230 degrees, the “shvitz” or sauna at International Steam Bath (Mikva Wellness Club) could very well be the hottest spa in New Jersey. Ten tons of blue river rock from the Delaware River fill the gas-heated furnace, retaining high temperatures for long periods of time. Elixirs such as eucalyptus oil can be splashed onto the rocks, creating a vapor to relieve ailments of the respiratory system and sinus.
Our facility combines old world charm and up to date facilities. Besides the radiant room or “shvitz”, we have an infra-red sauna, a cold plunge pool, whirlpool, massage rooms, relaxation area, outdoor sun deck, hydro therapy massage, restaurant/bar, and party room. Men’s and ladies’ locker rooms with showers are also available.
With a renaissance of alternative health consciousness, the ancient practice of the steam bath is becoming a viable trend in affordable, preventive healthcare. There is nothing like a good shvitz!
We are now a clothing optional spa! Members are encouraged to discover their own personal level of comfort. Our mission is to provide a space in which the highest priorities are openness, comfort, and wellness. In the sauna, steam, and whirlpool areas it is not a requirement to wear clothing (please see rules/regulations/guidelines).
It has been said, “Without clothes stress seems to melt away.”
