Has a drinking fountain, Pavillion with picnic tables, a basketball court, a playground with 4 swings, a ton of slides, a merry go round, a sand pit, and even more to enjoy! Playground: Tons of slip n slides aka slides. Also swings, merry go round, sand pit, etc Dog-friendliness: A big open grass field to run on Picnic area: Pavillion with picnic tables & a drinking fountain
Sadly, this was the last of the Golden Valley parks to fall prey to "new-is-best" or likely insurance policy something or other. Whatever the reason, our kids infant through early grade school don't spend as much time here as the old park. The plastic on the slides has given 2 in our family "slide burn", quite painful. Probably the type of plastic would be OK on slides that aren't as steep. Our favorite part of the summer 2018 replacement is the addition of 2 Mom+baby-seat swings Interestingly enough, the tiny bit of sand that remains is where everyone settles and spends the most time. It would be nice if the super fine play sand was replaced with a coarser grit, hopefully it would lose some of its magical stickyness! For our single-income, lots of kids family's part, we would have more enjoyed the $150k+ be given back as a property tax rebate instead of wasted on replacing a formerly very nice playground.
4 great tennis courts with lights. I think a soccer field. I could not find a bathroom....
What a fun park!! Ice skating, sledding and warming house. Their winter party was amazing...horse drawn sleigh rides, Smores kits, bonfire, hot chocolate and DJ music! All free and sooo fun!
Golden Valley Parks and Recreation is always quality, but I think Wesley tends to fly under the radar. Boasts a full size basketball court, 3 baseball fields, solid playground, tennis courts, soccer field, wooded area, and a sledding hill and ice rink in the winter. Nice slice of green space within the suburbs. Loved biking here as a kid growing up in the neighborhood, and love continuing to walk and bike through when I can.
The Great Park but first of all you have to know that my property backs up to 1 hundred fifty feet of the park. I have to say all the kids that are out there playing are always very respectful and when it gets dark they go home. I moved in to the neighborhood when I was 5 years old and 1957 and I'm still here today.
Nice tennis courts! But not crazy about the octagonal fence configuration. Maybe ok for singles, but in a doubles game, it can kick the ball far away as often as it sends the ball ball, and it kicks faults back under foot.
Nice neighborhood park with lots of space. Very well maintained ice rinks during the winter for both hockey and casual skating. Posted sledding hill close to the skating rinks and staffed warming house.
I play basketball here all the time. New hoops for summer of 2019! City has yet to paint the court. Playground is always busy with families and there are often softball and baseball games going on. One of my favorite places in GV.
New play equipment, nice shady area. Bball court 2 hoops. Nice baseball/softball diamond. Ice rink and warmnimg house open in winter. Rebuilt tennis courts on south end.
