The West Bountiful Police Department works with the citizens of our community to preserve life, maintain human rights, protect property, and promote individual responsibility and community commitment.
West Bountiful was first located in 1848 when the pioneers made their way into the territory. It was incorporated as a town on January 28, 1949.
The City is located about eight miles north of Salt Lake City and twenty-nine miles south of Ogden.
West Bountiful is a City of the third class. The six member City Council consists of a Mayor, who is elected to a four-year term, and five council members, who are elected at large for terms of four years. The Mayor appoints a City Administrator with the consent of the Council.
The City provides the following services: full-time Police Department, Water Utility, Storm Drain Utility, Refuse (Garbage and Recycling), Streets, Parks and Trails, Business Licensing, and Building Permitting and Inspections.
Fire services are provided by the South Davis Metro Fire District. Sanitary Sewer services are provided by the South Davis Sewer District. Animal Care and Control services are provided by Davis County.
The City benefits from a vibrant commercial district along 500 West between 400 North and 500 South, with a variety of goods and services from Restaurants and Deli's to Home Improvement and Savings Club businesses.
The 5700 residents enjoy a quiet, rural, equestrian life style. Many opportunities for cultural events are provided through a monthly concert series and arts displays. Major events include 4th of July celebration, Founders' Day celebration, special activities for Halloween, Easter and Christmas.
