We are a partnership of experienced psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists who believe in compassionate care and in taking the time with each patient to build a relationship based on trust and understanding.

Description

Our psychiatrists (medical doctors who treat mental health conditions with therapy and medication) treat patients age 18 and older. Our therapists see children and adults for individual, couples and family therapy.
While we accept several different health insurance plans, our providers do not participate in Employee Assistance Plans (EAPs). Please call the office at 919-377-1042 for further information.

to the person below that doesn't seem to believe that I am a real person yes 2020 was a hard year for everyone around the world. support was needed for everyone in this time. the matter of the fact that I was treated so horribly here to the point that she decided I wasn't even worth caring. there's a reason she's not here anymore so good luck with that.
Susan Dumire is an amazing practitioner, she takes plenty of time to really listen and look at the problem from all angles. The staff is friendly and I’d highly recommend this practice to anyone seeking psychiatric care!
I see some 1 star reviews, and I cant speak to those.I saw Gaila Torres, and she was honestly the best doctor I’ve seen and I’ve had mental health issues for 14 years. Im 35 weeks pregnant, and she took the time and care to look at all the possible side effects of all medicine combinations. She was very thorough, and is the first doctor I’ve seen to admit that most bipolar medicines cause bad side effects. All the other doctors were so afraid I wouldn’t take them if they were honest. She treated me like a person who is functional enough to have health insurance, drive to appointments, ya know all the things necessary to end up in a private practice most doctors I’ve seen treated me like I was severely schizophrenic or something. I am so relieved to have someone that I trust to rely on, and after just one appointment I very much recommend her.
I would not recommend this practice to anyone. They will not schedule an appointment even if you are a former patient without updating paperwork if it is been too long. Because of this when I finally was able to bring in the paperwork they now say that they won't accept my appointment. If the lady at the front desk had taken 2 seconds to talk to me instead of being rude to me she would have realized I was a former patient. I was going to try them for a second time but it's clearly not worth my time. I do not recommend this practice.
I am truly shocked at the criticisms here concerning Ms. Joslin. I found her to be extraordinarily caring, compassionate, and motivated to help me...probably the most excited and engaged psychiatrist I've ever had. And I've had quite a few, ha. I am wondering if some of these are actually fake reviews trying to extort the practice or something. Remember to look at reviewers' post histories to get a sense on whether they are legitimate former patients. I have been going to West Cary on and off since 2019 and, while they do seem to have issues with high turnover, the practitioners I've worked with were helpful and kind. The front desk staff is friendly and organized, I haven't had any issues with billing or what have you. I encourage those seeking a psychiatrist in Cary, not to count this one out. Unfortunately, a lot of the time the only way to judge a place is to experience it for yourself.
I have been going to Dr Nunez for about 2 years now I guess. I find her to be caring and very sympathetic and empathetic. I have found their office to be disorganized more than once. They have been through some changes, with software changes, insurance issues as well. I have missed an appt that I did not know I had, etc. I have not found them difficult to work with at all, they have been gracious throughout. They have had some staff turnover as well. I think any major issues have likely cleared up and they are worth giving it a try. I cannot speak to Dr Vas as I am not his patient. 9/2021 - Bumping up my grade, I have had nothing but good experiences with this office and Dr Nunez. They deserver the upgrade.
As I understand it, some earlier problems with an administrator brought down the reviews of this practice but it does not reflect the quality of care it delivers. I cannot say enough about how capable, informed, compassionate, professional, and committed you will find Dr. Claudia Nunez! It is very hard to find a counselor who has that level of empathy and ability to meet clients where they are over a range of issues. Through a crisis time, Dr Nunez worked not only with me as the client but extensively, and patiently with members of my extended family, both in town and out, to get us through this difficult time. Though this has not been my area, I would recommend her for issues with children and teens. She is a mother of teenagers and is involved with young people's organizations, so she has a lot of practical experience in making life situations work. I heartily endorse her as the finest health care professional.
Wow, where do I begin? First, the front desk office staff is extremely rude. The practice itself, doesn’t care about the patient. Only the money associated with the patient. The care pro professionals are a revolving door. In two year time frame, I had 4 different professionals. They do not care to get to know you as a patient. No one is personable. Please, do not waste your time. Absolutely the worst experience ever. In addition, I was 7 mins late for an appointment. I was rescheduled and charged an out of pocket office visit. They do not care about you.
Dr. Vas prescribed drugs that gave me such bad tachycardia it put me in the hospital. I understand that is a risk and I don't care about that, however, SIX DAYS LATER, numerous phone calls, speaking to the front of house and the on-call doctor, he didn't return a call until finally a legal entity threatened legal recourse. I don't know how he has good reviews on here. I went to him for nearly a year. His appointments are shorter than industry average and all he wants to do is prescribe drugs. It never felt like he wanted to really improve me, just drug me. I would avoid this shop not only for the lack of caring, but their front of shop is atrocious. One of the Dr's mom used to run it. Then two other ladies who never returned calls for appointments. Heck, I missed appointments and no one ever called to ask where I was or re-schedule. It is so bad that its November 2014 and they are trying to bill insurance for December 2013 which my insurance denied. Bad, unorganized, non-caring. Avoid!
Dr. Claudia Nunez is holistic mental healthcare provider! I highly recommend her!! I've never had any issues with billing or office staff in general; but, if you are judging a stellar healthcare provider on their office staff you might have mixed up priorities. Think about it...
