The Citizen Police Academy is designed to give civilians a closer look at the workings of the Police Department & build strong & lasting partnership.
The Citizen Police Academy is designed to give civilians a closer look at the workings of the Police Department. Participants in the course cover topics such as: Patrol Operations, Criminal Investigations, Special Operations, Traffic Investigations and much more. Participants will see the Township jail and forensics lab, as well as a SWAT training exercise.
The Citizen Police Academy was created to build a strong and lasting partnership between the Police Department and the community.
Participants will learn firsthand about the operations to foster a better understanding between police and the public.
The Citizen Police Academy is offered each year and class size is limited. Police department personnel teach classes from 6 to 9 pm one night per week for 10 weeks.
Applicants must be at least 21 years old and either reside or work in West Chester Township. A number of other criteria must be met before being accepted into this program. Applications must be submitted for consideration.
The Academy fosters better communication between citizens and police & provides an opportunity for citizens to learn firsthand about police operations.
