West Norriton Township is a township in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is part of the Norristown Area School District. The population of the township was 15,663 at the 2010 census.
We started when William Penn’s son, William, sold Williamstadt to Isaac Norris and William Trent in 1704. In 1730, the court agreed that Williamstadt should be a township and the Township of Norriton was created. Norriton included what is today West Norriton, Norristown, and East Norriton. In 1812, Norriton was divided and the Borough of Norristown was established. On March 9, 1909, the Township of Norriton was again divided, this time into West Norriton and East Norriton. On March 9, 2009, both townships celebrated their centennial.
