Established in 1979, West Side Wines & Spirits has been a pioneer in Northern Connecticut in providing quality wines & spirits from around the world. Under the ownership of Gregory Nemergut since 2001, we are building on this emphasis with an expanded mission of making these products more accessible to a larger audience in a friendly, relaxed environment, both in our store and on the web. In addition to our staff being an important part of the wine and spirits buying experience, so is the quality and selection of the products offered. We spend a considerable amount of time researching, identifying, and sampling wines and spirits from throughout the world to determine the products that we will ultimately offer to our customers. This selectivity assures that we continually offer high quality products in all categories and in a wide range of styles from which to choose. Equally important, is the fact our staff is speaking from personal experience when discussing a wine with a customer rather then quoting a trade publication or critic’s score.
Finally, to further enhance the wine and spirits exploration, we know that there is no better way to evaluate wines than to taste them. The open, informal tastings we have every Saturday afternoon are an integral part of our wine mission. We also partner with local restaurants to offer wine dinners as well as special spirits tastings.
