Westwind’s staff and maintenance is super friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I love that the water and gas heating is included and all I pay for utilities is electric. Westwind has provided me stability and allowed me to save up a lot of money as a single mom. I love that I was allowed to paint my apartment and put up shelving and a stick-on backsplash to make it my own! The pool and laundry facilities are very nice and clean in my building. I love living on the third floor and being able to see all the trees in the summer and fall. There are cops here pretty frequently so my only complaint would be my neighbors who are up parting and being loud across the parking lot. And a guy who talks super loudly and smokes too closely to the building. I still love it here though. I still feel safe here though. Just don’t get into any trouble!!
First and foremost, the office staff and maintenance are fantastic. They’re kind, quick, responsive, and will go out of their way to help you. I lived in one of the older buildings; I could hear my neighbor just having a conversation on the phone, and you could hear every single sound in the parking lot. People were also loudly in and out throughout the night. The trash service has sporadic and early hours, and the dump trucks were obnoxiously loud and ALWAYS took 5+ attempts to get the dumpster back on the cement slab. I paid to live in a smoke free building, but my neighbor smoked cigarettes and weed right outside the front door, so my AC unit brought it in and stunk up my whole apartment. The office put up notes and tried to put a stop to it—and it worked for a few weeks—but there really isn’t any more they could do when the person started again as I didn’t know which unit he was in. Upon move in, carpet was stained came out after I brought in a carpet cleaner, and sinks and toilet had issues—both of which were resolved same day, minutes after calling maintenance. The walls are in rougher shape, and the carpet is poorly put down just my vacuum would pull it up, the kitchen was very old, and the bathroom had been poorly repainted and had dried paint splatters everywhere. It was very outdated, but my unit got remodeled after I moved out. I scarcely talked to my neighbors the whole year I was there—everyone keeps to themselves. There was a steady stream of cops coming and going; I watched a standoff between a shooter and good Samaritan from my window until the cops showed up. It’s cheap for Fort Wayne, but price was drastically increased when it was time to renew, and it just wasn’t worth it for my tiny one bedroom. Hopefully increased prices will improve the type of tenants living there, though. I guess the take away is it’s old, cheaply made, not very safe, neighbors aren’t great, BUT the staff is lovely and I hope the best for every single employee. I received my deposit back within 3 weeks.
The leasing office has been really great to work with! They’ve had very quick responses to questions and calls. Though while moving in, it seemed to be that the place had not been cleaned in awhile. There was a lot of dust everywhere, the shower drain was built up with hair and grime, dirt on the windows, etc. You could tell the flooring was new and was done decently though.
I love living here! The girls in the leasing office are great, Tiffany and Nicole, are very helpful! Maintenance staff is good! The manager Travis is a nice guy.
I really enjoy living here. They keep everything very nice, and don’t bother you too much. The rent is affordable and the staff is kind.
Recently moved in about 3 months ago and so far it's been a way better experience than my previous apartment. Reasonable pet rent of $20 and deposit of $150 for my cat... heat is warm and AC is cold, relatively quiet except when people stomp up and down the stairs, the hallways echo pretty bad but that's my only complaint about that. Office staff has been very nice and helpful. Our kitchen is very compact and small for my liking but the bathroom and bedrooms are pretty good size for the price I'm paying. Spiders are in abundance but being on the lower floor and near a small forest of trees I'm not surprised
Very clean, prompt snow removal, only two issues with the facilities but they were resolved immediately. It is quiet and in a great location.
Pros: -Cheaper rent than a lot places in town -Nice and helpful staff -Great internet service Cons: -Poor interior quality -The doors to the hallways aren’t locked and always open, meaning anyone can just walk in at any time -Only 4 washers and 4 dryers for the entire building and you have to pay $3.00 per load of laundry -The parent company only seems to care about the sidewalks and grass -Shady neighbors and other tenants, history of crimes happening in the complexes -Maintenance is what you’d expect from a place like this: below average service with a “I don’t get paid enough to care” attitude. Overall, not worth it unless you are trying to save some money I guess
No problems for 2 years. Suddenly I'm fined $100 for smoking OUTSIDE on my balcony something I was told would be fine when I signed my lease. Never had a neighbor complain am quite friendly with all my neighbors. Property manager just saw me doing it and even though is wasn't affecting her or anyone else decided that right before Christmas to fine me $100. Now wants me to during winter leave my apartment and walk 35 ft away from the building with no smoking enclosures or any protection from the element whenever I need a cigarette. yes, I realize I should quit. I've been smoking for 20 years. It's not that easy. This just seems like an abuse of power. If they're willing to fine you over something this petty I'm worried what else they might do. Definitely will not be renewing my lease, and can't recommend anyone move here.
If I could give it no stars I would. The management and staff is terrible. They care more about their lawn service then they do their residents. They have bed bugs among many other types of bug infestations. They started to decline my calls after we notified them of any problems. Took them two months to fix the light in our hallway and Three months to fix our neighbors air conditioning. It’s the dead of summer and that was basically torture considering we had over 5 heat advisories during that time. I will never ever rent from this place again. I will advise any of my friends or family to seek ANY other housing. I am appalled by how we were treated as paying residents.
