The Westland Historical Commission was created in 1970 by Westland Ordinance No. 139 for the purpose of collecting and preserving historical objects, materials, buildings, and sites relating to the history of the City.
The Westland Historic Village Park is committed to the collection, preservation and exhibition of historical artifacts related to Nankin Township and the City of Westland, Michigan; the education of residents and non-residents through buildings and objects important to the community and the inspiration of all to pursue the past through the search of records and historical study in an unbiased objective manner.
