Westport library service began with a Western Counties Regional Library bookmobile on April 20, 1970. The library branch opened on June 30, 1983. The branch underwent extensive renovations and reopened on Sept. 21, 2010. As an integral part of the communities of Southwestern Nova Scotia, the library is an essential public service. It will provide effective information service that is respectful, innovative, and accessible to everyone. The Library will encompass the traditions of public libraries while embracing the changing technologies of our world.
