Nice little park in the middle of Poolesville with free charging for your EV and places to eat nearby.
Great little park. Beautiful for a peaceful walk, a picnic, or just to sit and meditate for a bit. Very peaceful and calming atmosphere with a nice opened field and a huge band stand. 5 SOLID STARS!
Whalen Commons is a park in the style of a town commons, near Poolesville's town hall along downtown Fisher Avenue. It features a grassy mall, walking paths, trees, arbors, park seating, a bandstand and public restrooms. It is host to various events flea markets, concerts, movies, etc. so one's enjoyment can vary depending if visiting for a stroll or during an event. I find it a fine place to walk, but since it's located near our public library it's also a nice place to read borrowed books. It's near several restaurants, though events also often include food vendors.
I remember when they first talked about putting a big open space into the center of town and how I thought it sounded like a waste. I was wrong. They have many fun family events there that I am happy to eat my words. Everything from movie night on a projector, to farmers markets and beer tasting. It's a wonderful use of real estate that adds so much to our small town.
Whalen Commons is always clean & a nice place to relax. We sometimes walk there at night and sit on the park benches. The trees have white lights wrapped around them, making the park a romantic place to chat.
Nice grassy area for groups to run around on and play games. There is also a stage for musical performances.
Great little local park to stroll with a friend or dog mind your mess and summertime activities are great on the weekends.
Great spot right in the center of town. Loads of fun family events held here.
