Description

Wheaton Park Stables is conveniently located just outside the Washington DC Beltway in Wheaton Regional Park. We offer horseback riding lessons from beginner to advanced, Sunday escorted trail rides, pony rides, and full board. So come check us out, learn a new sport, start riding again, enhance your riding skills, or just enjoy a trail ride in the park!
For our group, private, and semi-private lessons, we teach balanced seat equitation emphasizing on strong riding fundamentals. We offer private and group lessons for all riding levels, beginners through jumping. With both indoor and outdoor riding arenas lessons are not weather dependent.



"Our Primary focus is English group horseback riding lessons for children 8 and older and adults. We offer beginner through advanced lessons. We offer trail rides on Sundays through private reservation via email. Trail rides are for riders of any experience level and for ages 8 and older, weight limit 180lbs. Pony Rides on Thursdays 11-12 and Sunday 1:30-2:30 for children 3-7 years old, no appointment necessary. We offer summer camps for children 8 and older from June to August. We also offer birthday parties, activities for girl/boy scouts, and other groups. Please visit our website for more detailed information about all activities! What a great place to bring kids! I was meeting a friend with her two children 3 y.o. and new born who were not yet vaccinated, so we wanted to find simplest outdoors where we could easily and safely social distance. This place was amazing. Easy parking, plenty of space to roam about, picnic tables and benches to sit on, and most importantly, the horses! It appeared as if they were offering lessons, but we were just there to enjoy the area and admire the horses in their pen. It was still a wonderful afternoon and a great place to meet up and enjoy the beauty of nature and the majestic horses!
Ms.Becky and the ladies that were there today were amazing. I give their friendliness and how they handled everything with a million stars .my daughter was very happy on her pony and wants to go bk again .When my daughter turns 8 we will definitely be signing her up for riding lessons.
I have been riding at Wheaton park stables for four years and it has been the best time of my life. The horses have connections to the humans who ride and are very nice. I have made so many new friends at the stables. Everyone is excepted in these stables. The instructors are amazing and will do anything to make you a better rider. The owner, Sandy, runs the barn and is amazing at it. She keeps us all safe and takes care of the horses. She keeps them healthy and happy. Wheaton park stables is the best riding place. Don't be fooled by going to Woodland. Wheaton is better and affordable. I recommend Wheaton park stables if you're looking to ride and have fun.
I have been riding for over a year and a half here, best riding stables ever. Very affordable and right around the corner from my house. The horses are amazing. The trainers have helped me so much. I love the horses so much. Everyone is accepted. Sandy, who owns the barn, takes great care of the horses and staff. I totally recommend WPS to anyone who wants to ride and have fun.
I've been riding in lessons for 6 years, and my dad has ridden here before I was born. This is the best place in the world, no doubt. Almost all of the horses are super nice and the staff are great too.
Wheaton Park Stables is a calm environment with excellent and supportive riding instructors that care about the utmost safety of the riders. My daughter has been riding at WPS for 19 months and has grown into a confident girl. Sandy, the owner of the stable, cares deeply about the safety and development of the riders, employees and horses. Anyone who knows Sandy, loves Sandy. You won't find a better place to ride.
We took a one hour trail ride. The scenery was beautiful, but the terrain included rocks and hills and was rougher than we were prepared for. The horses were mostly well-behaved however, the instructors didn't provide us with very much training beforehand and we had challenges getting our horses to obey our commands. For most of us, it was our first time on horseback we were all a little nervous. When we made a mistake the instructors would yell at us in extremely harsh tones. Every time we made a slight mistake with the positioning of our feet or hands, the instructors would yell at us. If our horse went out of the single file line, the instructors would yell at us. They filled us with anxiety and fear during the entire ride and offered no reassurances at all. After this, I don't think any of us will be getting on a horse again.
I have been bringing my child here for horse lessons for a few months now and will STOP doing so. Thiers a large woman that's glued in a armchair/love seat. I think she maybe in charge, as she yells at the poor girls that work for her. This is not acceptable and if she spoke to my child in this manner, words would have been exchanged. Theirs a much nicer place to take your child just a few miles from here and it's called Woodland horse center. Do your child and you a favor and go somewhere other than Wheaton Parks Stable. Maybe if they learn to treat clients and employees with respect but don see that happening with that large woman in charge.
My experience has been the best of all time at Wheaton. I've made so many new friends and I met the love of my life there one of the horses. We have such a strong connection and he is the only horse my mom trusts completely
Had a wonderful experience at the stadium today I really enjoyed myself
