Nelson Wheeler and Elana Needles, sometimes referred to as the Wheedles, are retired art teachers, having taught photography & numerous other art disciplines at the kindergarten through college level. During their lifetime of serious involvement in the visual arts, they have enjoyed their fair share of awards and exhibits, but their motivation always has been the sheer joy that comes with creativity & production. "As residents of Oroville, we have engaged ourselves in one medium or another as inclinations have moved us. More recently we have thrown ourselves into the whelm of mosaics, a consequence of visits to Mexico where color and craft are at every turn. During the last couple years, we have focused on the production of mosaic tables, although we wander in other directions as the mood surfaces. Color, design, and craftsmanship dictate our direction, not without a personal touch that defines our style."
