We had such a wonderful stay. The new owners have made some really great changes and put alot of effort into this campground. I would stay there again.
We went 6 years ago and came back recently. This is the definition of a family friendly campground that is low key and quiet. I love this place and look forward to coming back again. The owners are such wonderful, kind family pleasant people.
We rented the Deerlick Cabin for Memorial Day weekend. The hosts and other campers were friendly and courteous. There were activities available like a Rubber Duck Regatta or Cornhole tournament for the holiday weekend. The pool was clean and warm. Great hikes were within 45 minutes or less. The cabin had hear/AC which was really helpful as we took our newborn with us. They allow well behaved dogs for a small fee, and we took our dog as well. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. We will be back !
My favorite part of this campground was the small creek running through the middle. It wasn't too small and wasn't too large/powerful either. It had the rippling/babbling effect that made us want to keep our windows open the entire weekend. The inner roads were easily navigable and clean. Ownership lives on the property and is always around for questions/help. There are many different types of sites. We were in a full service 30A, H20, Sewage site that was long enough for our 39' TT but just barely too short for the truck parked slightly sideways in front to fit. I parked under a tree and had a ton of gypsy moth caterpillars on the roof one even managed his/her way into the TT at one point but it wasn't a big deal. Fire rings and picnic tables were provided on a mostly level gravel spot Used one Lynx Leveler under each tire on one side of the TT to level 100%. Water pressure was perfect, cable TV worked well, WiFi was 'ok' but it's free so I can't complain. The pool and playground were clean and safe and the game room had a few video games and air hockey/pool table that worked well. The ONLY negatives I found and they honestly may not be a big deal for others were the closeness in proximity to the neighbor see my one photo of their tent literally inches from our one slideout. I probably could have pulled the TT over more the other way but we didn't know they'd set up that close...and they can because it's their site. It was just a little off putting to know that we would be on our couch/kitchen table and if we opened the window, could have high-fived them at any given moment. I'm just glad they weren't loud/obnoxious. The other slight negatives were the sewage outlet and hose bib. I had to take my flexible hose extension off and connect the filter directly to it as the flex hose seals broke due to the angle at which it was affixed. Not a huge deal...I should've done that from the get-go. The sewage pipe was clean and looked newer but it was angled upwards a little high and at a 45 degree angle...which made my 90 degree elbow attachment a little awkward, but with some rocks and a little maneuvering, it all came out the same in the end no pun intended. I would definitely recommend this campground to anyone families/couples/single travelers alike. We camped at Whispering Winds Campground in a Travel Trailer.
This was a wonderful, quiet campground in the middle of nature. Great heated pool and playground. Loved the experience! Great helpful couple running it!
Great setting amongst the forest with a steam running through the middle. Lovely couple who are constantly out and about improving the grounds. Very reasonable rates. Good amenities and plenty for children to do. Good wifi ! Cable TV. Full hook ups and camp sites. Trails out the back of the site access the forests. Centrally located to see all the sites of ANF. Highly recommend.
This is one of if not the BEST Campground you could ever stay at. Whether your RV camping, tent camping or are staying in one of the nicest, cleanest cabins you have ever seen. To start off the owners Wayne and Ann are the nicest most accommodating camp owners you could ever ask for. They have made our time here at Whispering Winds Campground some of the best memories we will ever have as a family. This campground has all the amenities you could ever ask for and more. From the cleanest restrooms, bath house, laundry room, camp store, swimming pool, pavilion, game room and campsites you could ever imagine. The permanent campers that are here are top notch and like Wayne and Ann are and will forever be part of our extended family. The owners have made my children's time here unforgettable as well. They have activities all year long that accommodate everyone, including our special needs child. I can't say enough about this campground other than it feels like home. To the people that leave negative reviews. I'm sure you're perfect and never have been at fault for anything in there lives. You know the type. Some people aren't happy unless they're complaining about something. It must SUCK to be you going through life that way but enough about those Happy Campers LOL. In short if you're looking for that special campground that you and your family will be talking about until the next time you stay there again, then hurry up and book a trip here so you can start making those lasting memories like we have done. Trust me you will not regret it and before checking out you will be making reservations for your next unforgettable time here at Whispering Winds Campground.
We had such a great experience at such a unique campground. This mom and pop campground is nestled in the Allegheny Forest, and if you love nature, this is a must go! Campers are backed up to a creek that children are allowed to play in! The child in me couldn’t stay out of it! . The owners are so kind and caring and met all our needs. We will definitely be returning!
I've been here at this campground now for 3 months and I've read the reviews and I can tell you based on mine and my parents experience here This is a exceptionally great campground to stay at. We are living here in our camper full time until we find a home to purchase and Wayne and Ann are great people. Over the last 3 months they have done everything they can to accommodate us and have helped us out when we needed it. The bath house is clean and the camp sits are a nice level gravel pad with a picnic bench and fire pit. There is a very nice little stream running right through the middle of the campground and while sitting outside its very peaceful to listen to the water running by. They also have a very nice inground swimming pool. If you're planning on staying in the area I would highly recommend Whispering Winds.
My wife and I stayed here this past week for 6 nights. Of all the campgrounds my wife and I have stayed at in the past, this was by far one of our favorite campgrounds. Wayne and Ann, along with their evening helper, have done an extremely nice job with this campground. Situated in a small valley in the middle of the Allegheny National Forest, there is no other way to experience this National Park. Super clean and very well laid out. RV sites were very spacious, cable TV connections, picnic table and its own fire ring. Firewood sold on site, and at an extremely reasonable price. Best of all, the owners will deliver your firewood to your campsite. From what I could tell, almost all of the FH sites were situated along a mature, mountain fed stream. There is no better way to go to sleep, or wake up, than having the sounds of a running stream constantly in the background. Since we were not tent camping, we did not check out the onsite bathrooms, but I am sure if they are kept in the same manor as everything else is, they were super clean. Laundry facilities were neat, well kept, and had reasonable prices. Had a very nice playground for the kids, a well maintained swimming pool, and a newly renovated shelter. Location wise, this campground is centrally situated to the Kinzua Dam/Allegheny Reservoir Warren, PA, Kinzua Bridge State Park Kane, PA, as well as a hidden gem called Hearts Content Recreation Area Sheffield, PA. If you've ever wanted to feel like you are walking through a fairy tail, magical land, then Hearts Content Recreation Area is the place to go. My wife and I called it the Redwood Forest of the East. My only suggestion would be to incorporate a "Dog Run" of some sort to allow the transient campers a chance to let their pets off of a leash to run a bit. We wish Wayne and Ann all the best in the future, and if we are ever back up in the Allegheny's, we will most certainly stay here.
