Chose to use the tour guide and we loved it! He shared stories and told the history of the items in the different rooms. He was very knowledgeable and made it a great tour! Worth visiting.
It uses to be my elementary school before it closed down, it's great that it still has a purpose by showing the history of the building and surrounding area. Summer hours thursday-saturday 11 to 4. Winter hours saturday noon to 4.Wait timeNo wait
Very interesting and historical lesson about the settling of the area. Take the tour, enjoy your time, plan about an hour and a half for the visit.
I've been there more than once. It's an amazing place with lots of history. Including the nice old school house where it is located. The people who run it are knowledgeable and very personable. Happy to share information and answer your questions. All in all it is perfect. I highly recommend going. Be sure to check out the gift shop!!
Wonderful artifacts and friendly volunteer staff. A great display of history, as it truly was, blemishes and all, over 100 years ago. Amazing job, Team. Keep up the great work!
They have an incredible amount of artifacts from the local tribes and early settlers of the area. Photos, drawings and items from as far back as the late 1800's.
Nice museum in a quaint old school house. The folks that run it are very nice and are eager to answer any questions and share their knowledge of the history of Packwood. We visited the museum when it was raining at our campsite, they kept us busy until the weather got better :- $2 admittance fee was good. Especially when we looked out the back windows of the school to see a herd of elk grazing in the field. Very serene soroundings.
Great place to look around. Friendly helpful people. Would definitely recommend stopping by if in the area. Brings back lots of childhood memories every time I see it. Great to see it's still being loved
The history of this area is captured in the old school house that now serves as a gateway to the Cowlitz Valley. Each room teaches a lesson on a family or an era that has shaped this place from oral tradition to the present logging culture of the North West. This is a great place to spend a day with your family, thinking about what you will leave as a legacy.
