The Whitehall Division of Police is committed to the integrity and safety of the Whitehall, Ohio community. All members of the Whitehall Division of Police are sworn to protect and serve the residents of Whitehall and those who work and travel through the City. In addition to the department's patrol and investigative bureaus, the department also offers residents a number of other services such as free car seat inspections by an officer certified in child safety seat installation, free 24/7 prescription and over-the-counter drug disposal, a Citizens Police Academy, block watch assistance, free gun locks and home and business security surveys. The Whitehall Police Department's "Social Media Site" encourages and allows for the submission of content, possibly including but not limited to, comments, photos, videos and links. In accordance with the City of Whitehall’s Social Networking Policy, any comment, etc. containing the following content is prohibited on the City's "Social Media Site" page:
A. Comments not topically related to the particular subject being discussed;
B. Comments in support of or in opposition to political campaigns or ballot measures;
C. Profane language or content;
D. Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, national origin, status with regard to public assistance, physical or mental disability, or sexual orientation;
E. Defamation of character against a City employee, official or residents;
F. Sexual content or links to sexual content;
G. Solicitations of commerce or advertisements;
H. Illegal content or encouragement of illegal activities;
I. Information that may tend to compromise safety or security of the public or public systems;
J. Accusations or implications that a particular individual is guilty of any criminal conduct or immoral activity. Defamatory material will not be permitted. If a person believes that there is a legitimate basis to make a complaint against the City, any of its employees or any third party, then appropriate alternative means of registering the complaint must be utilized. City social media sites are not appropriate forums for registering allegations of criminal activity or other accusations against individuals;
K. Content containing personally identifiable information such as Social Security Numbers or City employee personal email addresses;
L. Content that violates a legal ownership interest of any other party;
M. Content that violates federal, state or local law.
