Whitespace

About

“Whitespace is the most alternative of Atlanta’s commercial galleries for showcasing interesting artists and letting them experiment.” (Catherine Fox, art critic, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, "Value-added Exhibitions," 2007)

Description

Whitespace is one of Atlanta’s leading contemporary commercial art galleries. Named Critic’s Pick for Best Gallery 2010 and Reader's Choice for Best Gallery in 2013 by Creative Loafing Atlanta, whitespace provides an opportunity for both emerging and established artists to showcase their works. A champion of open expression, Owner| Director Susan Bridges founded the gallery in 2007 from the converted 1893 carriage house of her Inman Park Victorian, in order to promote original, unconventional projects. Like the historical neighborhood of Inman Park in which the gallery resides, Whitespace combines the charm of its roots with the vibrancy of the contemporary art it hosts. In this unique setting, Whitespace currently represents an eclectic mix of original contemporary art, sculpture and photography by local, national, and international artists.

"whitespace is a contemporary gallery active in Atlanta and across the southeast that seeks to foster an immersive environment of free-expression, intimacy, and dialogue. Under the direction of owner Susan Bridges, the gallery has housed numerous exhibitions across all mediums promoting artistic innovation and inquiries into the relationships that define who we are, both collectively and as individuals. As a respected institution in Atlanta’s art community, whitespace and the artists it houses continue to inspire all who attend through thoughtful examinations of the world around us, allowing viewers a new mode of seeing beyond meaning."

White Space is like a secret garden. I have never been disappointed by an exhibit or had a boring conversation with anyone there.
One of the most unique spots in Atlanta, this art gallery is a must see. The artwork is spectacular as well.
Small but very nice collection. And why complain? It’s free !!
This gallery is worth the stop. It's truly Art for Art's sake. We love coming here whenever we're nearby. I can say it will likely be the the most interesting of your gallery stops, always inspiring a conversation.
Favorite Gallery in ATL! Susan Bridges has renovated the old carriage house and other small buildings surrounding her picturesque 19th Century Victorian home and gardens. It is a charming & intimate setting that is inviting for anyone and everyone. Susan and her team do a phenomenal job curating local, national, and international artists including those in school that enrich our lives with their creations. As an avid supporter of the arts for decades, Susan has perfected her own art of sharing art with Atlanta and promoting artists well.
Whitespace is a place of continuous excellence. It strives to represent its artists honestly and sincerely, and endeavors to host as much of the local community as possible. Any visit to them is ever a pleasure, and there is always something new to do and fun to see. Their events are excellent, their shows are superb, and there is no better gallery in all of Atlanta.
Hidden renovated horse barn? Maybe with basement added tiny gallery. Check the exhibit before you make the effort - reps a great group of regionally & nationally recognized visual artists
Excellent little gallery, a very self service atmosphere and anyone in the public can look around for free. Quiet space and small atmosphereatmosphere, some great works come through here.not to mention the exterior of the gallery is a beautiful garden like little space
