Pass it Back, Ags!
"Some may boast of prowess bold"...lyrics from The Spirit Of Aggieland ***
How can you possibly 'show' what A&M means to so many students, former students, Aggie families, and fans???
My paintings offer glimpses of Aggieland, but my journey with the spirit that resonates within all Aggies began 25 years ago...
Though I am a 4th generation Aggie, I did not fall in love with A&M until the summer before my senior year in high school; all it took was a campus visit (I was invited to spend the weekend in the dorms as part of the University Honors Program), and the rest is my history of maroon and white...
I loved my time at A&M as a student, and before I graduated with my degree in Accounting, I knew I really wanted to teach. Convinced that I personally would be a better teacher if I had real world experience first, I began my career as CPA with a 'Big' accounting firm. That path opened many doors for me and I worked overseas for several years...BUT...
But I always dreamed of returning to Texas and specifically, I ached to be able to teach at Texas A&M University...
Where there is a will...
I have been blessed to have my dream job, teaching at A&M, since 2008. I love teaching, I love the Aggies, and I love A&M. So, how does that bring me to watercolor???
In the past year, a childhood passion of painting has 'awoken' and my 'free' time is painting time. What better way to celebrate my love for the University than to share my Aggie creations with all of you!
*** The Spirit of Aggieland was originally written as a poem by Marvin H. Mimms while he was a student at Texas A&M and Richard J. Dunn, the director of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band at the time, composed the music.
