Fantastic location, easy to access in Downtown district. Parking can be difficult, since it's located adjacent to Century 2. The building is somewhat dated as well.
I absolutely adoringly love our Wichita Ks public library!! I remember our kindergarten class going there in the 1970's and I was mesmerized at all the wonderful books everywhere and how helpful and nice the people were that worked there. We lived in a small town just outside of Wichita and our library there was a small one bedroom house before it was a library. It had a wonderful children's room that us kids visited all the time to look at books together and if the librarian wasn't busy , she would gladly read books to us. Wichita library is the same way to this day. They love our kids and try to help them explore and learn and most importantly, develop a love for reading. Great resources for the patrons, students and professionals and everyone that is interested in research or simply reading. Staff is always amazingly helpful and look like they delight in doing so. Just a few super fabulous reasons why my family and I love the place. They have taught me a lot through letting me read and discover even when I had next to nothing money and was a temporary resident at the women's crisis center. Reading books got me through a rough time. The library card and use was free but a fine had to be paid by anybody overdue getting the material returned late. That's more than fair. That's a gifted blessing from the library and its friends that fund it and keep it going. Many thanks to all for that gift. The building always clean and nice. The environment not as good I hate to admit. People don't keep their children in check while there. Running a muck squealing yelling. The staff has always prided themselves on keeping people quiet. Anymore they can't without offending the parents and getting attitude and noise on top of what the kids were doing. It's a society issue now I guess. We were taught better and we did better out of respect. That being the only bad thing I have to say about it is pretty darn good I think. I still say , 5 Stars for our library
Love the new Advanced Learning Library. Quiet, spacious, excellent selection of books AND the Reverie Roasters make their home there! Delicious coffee and a book! Nothing better!!
Dawn and Steve were very helpful. Very nice library , location. It’s clean , and customer service is great! Great place to study and have a quiet time! Easy way to set up library card.
They have books on all subjects and use the Dewey Decimal System. Gold library cards cost $20.00, but regular library cards are free, with a replacement costing $2.00. There are often homeless people sleeping here during the day, but there is a cop there to provide security. There is a genealogy and records of Sedgwick country in the basement, and a Children's room on the third floor. Every time I walk in there though, I have an uncomfortable feeling staying there and I feel like the people who work there and the place itself are evil.
Stepping into this library feels like I'm walking back into the days of the classic TV show Moonlighting! It's a little retro. There is a nice little Friends of the Library bookstore with good deals and a great children's section on the top floor.
Great location, but parking is difficult, building is dated, and no study spaces near windows. Very limited access to electrical outlets. Basically, this is a library of 1970 that hasn't quite got the hang of the information/location needs of the 2010s.
Just attended a meeting in one of the conference rooms here. Loved the facility. It is beautiful and has some very knowledgeable staff. A great place to hold an educational conference!
