This school is not good for any child who isn't Hispanic. They are not equipped to deal with any other races. They do not celebrate nor teach the kids about bkack history. They judge you based on skin tone. One teacher in particular, Idolina Esparza never treated me with respect, she has a very nasty attitude if you don't agree with her. Everytime I encountered her she was rude and had her nose in the air. She treated my child poorly and tried to diagnose her behavior when she isn't a child psychologist. Also I will not speak on exactly what happened but she allowed something to happen to my child, that allowed other children to make fun of my child. I will not send my child back to this horrible school.
The teachers for the most part are great The office staff on the other hand are a complete disaster. The attendance clerk always seems to be having a bad day and speaks to the students and parents in a very rude manner. The reason for this review is to bring up an incident that occurred with my child at Wilcox elementary. We forgot to pack a sack lunch for a field trip 4th graders were taking to Knott's berry farm in January of 2017. After dropping off my son at school he soon realized we did not pack a lunch for him. He then politely asked Carmen the attendance clerk in the front office if he could call his mother and she told him "Didn't bring a lunch, too bad". He then proceeded to the cafeteria to ask for a lunch he receives free lunches at school, no one answered the door. He told his teacher and she also did nothing about the situation. I dropped off my son that day at 8:30 a.m. There was more than enough time to contact me so I could take him a home made lunch. The bus didn't depart until 9:00 a.m. I tried contacting the principle after school and even left a message on his voicemail but never got a call back. My son went on that field trip and ate NOTHING the entire day! No one allowed him to call his mother, no one gave him his free lunch from the schools cafeteria either. I'm happy I took him out of here!!! Cannot believe I paid $15.00 so my son could attend a field trip where no one cared if he ate anything!!!
I switched my daughter to a different school but she wasn't learning so I brought her back to wilcox and she is keeping up really good there. She says the other school was too boring it didn't motivate her to learn.
It was a good school, made many friends there and even though its been a few years since graduating 5th grade and i moved cities i still have those friends.
This was the best school id even gone to please if u are looking for a new school for your kids put them in Wilcox Elementary. They will have the best time ever.
