Oh this is a great trail for everyone to enjoy! Walking, biking, picnics, fishing, the scenery is beautiful! Started out at the Chehalis Trailhead State Park, yes, grab your Discover Pass. There is a vault toilet. Heading West, it's paved for 5 miles, then turns to packed gravel, narrow in spots, and returns to pavement around Raymond to South Bend. Did I mention the bridges! Gorgeous! Restrooms: There are vault toilets and flush toilets along the way Dog-friendliness: Your dog may be friendly, but some are not, Leash Your Pet Picnic area: Ample places to pull over by the river, park benches along the trail, and Rainbow State Park for the family BBQ or camping.
Beautiful bike trail through rural Lewis County. Paved for about 6 miles on the eastern end, but most of the rest of the trail is on hard packed gravel/dirt so doable for all except very narrow tire road bijes.
Wonderful rails-to-trails riding experience. I highly recommend a ride on this trail. We started at the Eastern end in Chehalis but I would love to ride all the way to the coast. The eastern end starts out paved but then it's mostly well-packed fine gravel after 10 miles or so.
Great ride. Parked here and road with 4 kids to the newest bridge over the highway. Smooth pavement the entire way. Beautiful views. Lots of shade. Total of 7 miles.
Lovely scenery on the trail. Wood bridges have a 2" lift..no ramp.. think about slowing down on the approach. Turned around at Rainbow Falls. The asphalt in the state park was a nice change. Fresh gravel was laid. A bit challenging to ride through those patches. I was a bit disappointed at the 'Falls'...it has been a dry summer, I will go again in the spring. My advice, park your vehicle at Adna. Easy to find. Concerning homeless population at the beginning of the trail @ Chehalis. Talking with people who frequent the trail stated car break-ins happen.
A nice easy trail. It's paved about 5.3 miles to just past Adna. But in August 2022 the trail is closed at about 2 miles for construction of a bridge overpass over what was a dangerous highway crossing. There is no easy detour. Update: The bridge over the highway is open now and it’s spectacular!
This was the best trail ride, really beautiful countryside smooth trail, cool old bridges, was not able to complete the entire ride, rode about sixteen miles, will do again next year Restrooms: Be prepared just one along the route Dog-friendliness: No problem with dogs to come along
This is a very nice Trail. If you are walking, running, jogging, biking or just out for a beautiful stroll through the beautiful nature that the PNW has to offer! This Trail doesn’t disappoint!
The best part is the trail passes through pastures and across rivers. The only downside is there are long straight aways comes with rails-to-trials that seem to stretch on forever.
The 1st 5 miles west of Chehalis is paved, however the approach onto a couple of the bridges was 4 inches high. There were a couple spot between mile post 12 and 18 where the gravel was a bit loose. Not a problem for wide tires but be careful on road bikes. We had a late lunch in Pe Ell at Evey's. Figure 11 mph avg speed due to the gravel. On an old mountain bike it took us about 2 1/4 hours to get to Pe Ell with a slight head wind and about 250 elevation gain. Figure about 6 hrs round trip and bring lots of water, as we did not see any where to refill water bottles other than Evey's in Pe Ell. It was a good ride.
