A short curly haired old woman was extremely rude to me when I was simply reading my book in the library. This lady went on an extreme power trip and was striking down the simple questions I asked about why I couldn't read my book in this specific room. She had a horrible attitude while I was trying start a conversation about how the room should be utilized more for the students as it is empty on a day to day basis. She didn't even bother trying to reciprocate my questions with any kindness whatsoever and shut them down. She instead acted like my questions had no validity at all despite me asking them kindly. Her only explantation was that it is used for events, none of which were happening during this time. I was surprised by this senior citizen's low level of maturity as I was attempting to smile and express high spirits while talking to her only to be met with pure rudeness. I come to this library to study almost everyday and never have any problems being in that room but suddenly it became such a crime when the wicked witch of the library felt the need to exert the little power she has in this place over a hardworking student simply trying to READ!!! There is no reason for that room to be off limits unless there is an event going on at that moment or later that day. This is just as disappointing as LMU's president purchasing that 6 million dollar home for "events".
Its beautiful architecture aside, the Hannon Library is quiet solace for students seeking a worthwhile workplace on campus. Its breadth of texts is always breathtaking for me to explore, most especially in their special collections of which include full copies of the first four Shakespeare Folios. A great space for both collaboration and solo work, it is rare to find a moment when the space isn't full to the brim with students - all of them maintaining a shawl of quiet intensity. edit: spelling of "its"
I had a really great time at this library. It was clean, bright, and the perfect place to do my school work. Everyone there was super polite, and there were lots of places to sit, as well as many desks to work at. I really enjoyed that there were so many outlets for chargers and things as well.
What a beautiful library! So clean and modern, and best of all, so quiet! The staff is all so friendly and willing to help with anything! There is not a bad quality about this place, except the fact I never want to leave! LOL!
Loyola Marymount's Main Campus, tucked quaintly atop a coastal hill that overlooks the Marina and Playa del Rey, has a recently remodeled stunning library. During the day and evenings it is open to non-students so guests can make use of the great environment and resources. I am not a student but this is one of my favorite go-to work spaces to do research or work on my business. It is not a really large library but it has an extensive collection in a spectrum of disciplines including a children's book section, research and literary journals, art books, and I'm sure some other bonuses that I've yet to come across. There is a cafe attached to the library, Jazzman's Cafe, that serves coffee, tea, prepared lunch items, pastries, and other beverages. It's lounge area is quite inviting, with a TV to accompany you while you eat. The library beautiful large windows all along the perimeter bode a relaxing and beautiful view of of the area so if you can get a seat there, then you're set!
The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable. There are plenty of quiet study areas and rooms for group projects. To be honest this library is my favorite part about LMU.
Absolutely the best library, ever! I get soooo much work done here. Such a great place to be productive!
Great research library and extensive film and media chronicles; beautiful view from study area
Clean, bright and new with a lovely view while you study.
