Willie Dixon's Blues Heaven Foundation

About

WILLIE DIXON'S BLUES HEAVEN FOUNDATION'S mission is to help artists and musicians obtain what is rightfully theirs, and to educate both adults and children on the history of the Blues and the business of music.

Mission

The world is incontestably a richer place because of WILLIE DIXON’S musical contributions alone. Believing that his work was not yet finished, Dixon devoted much of his time in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s to the organization he founded, BLUES HEAVEN FOUNDATION. His vision was to allow the echoes of great American Blues to continue to develop, to encourage a new generation of blues greats and to provide for the on-going welfare of senior Blues musicians.

BLUES HEAVEN FOUNDATION'S mission is to help artists and musicians obtain what is rightfully theirs, and to educate both adults and children on the history of the Blues and the business of music. To achieve this mission, we have successfully executed several programs, including The Muddy Water's Scholarship, Music Clinics, Music in the Garden/Record Row Festival, and Emergency Assistance, and are looking to establish additional programs in the near future. In order to help maintain the existence of BLUES HEAVEN FOUNDATION, and to realize the dream of its founder, WILLIE DIXON, your support is imperative. You can make a tax deductible donation at www.bluesheaven.com.

I performed here on the 24th of August 2023. I can't wait to come back. I enjoyed the tour as well. A complete honor to have performed at such a historical place.
Interesting place to visit. It is a working educational facility that offers insight and advice for those interested in going into the recording/music business. Also museum of Chess Studios with lots of artifacts on display. Do partake in the tour, otherwise it would be a lost opportunity to gain insight and info. Free concerts provided next door in garden on certain days. Lots of history and mojo.
If you are lover of music from the 60’s and 70’s the Blues Heaven Foundation tour of Chess Records is a must. A “ring doorbell” for tour greets you at this unexpected location. While they have scheduled tour times, they welcomed my daughter and me in between tours. It was really cool to stand in the spot that the Stones and many blues artists performed.
History lives here - The Blues! When to a book signing with Kurt West. Bought two photo books - The Blues in Black and White & the Almond Brothers.
A wealth of history, memorabilia and information about the Chicago Blues scene and Chess Records. Close to the Cermak Green Line and extremely affordable for the information, access, and history you will learn, see, and hear. Great, friendly, knowledgeable staff. Wonderful gift shop.
This is where rock n roll started through the blues of course. Gave me goosebumps to be in the recording studio. Must see if you're in Chicago.
It’s awesome that this place existed to share the history of Chicago world known legends with generations to come!! I’m especially excited about the educational opportunities for youth of all ages including me at 50 plus.
The home of Chess Records where many greats got their recording start, such as Willie Davis, Howlin' Wolf, Etta James, Muddy Waters, and many many more!!! My tour guide personally knew many os these stars which made the tour much more interesting. A must see when in Chicago!!
This is chess production studio. Its almost still in its original shape. Home of the blues. Lots of famous artists recorded here and they still do record here. Its said that when the architect built the studio, the walls werenot quite square producing a ine of a kind sound that you cant find anywhere else. The money you pay to tour here goes back into the community.
I was quite peeved that my sister and I along with another family came here and they were closed.
