I left a review previously and said that while I still enjoyed coming here, the nachos weren't as good as they once were. I got an official reply saying the nachos were always this way. So here's proof, from 2019 that they used to look and taste very different. You can see the color is different and there's not a hint of grease, the cheese blend melted together and sat on the chips without soaking into them. Obviously there was still grease on the cheese but it never made the chip soggy. You can see it best in the third image. I was told by the cook that the recipe was changed from a three cheese blend to a two cheese blend many years back, and I don't know what it is now. I don't know if it's even possible to get the old nachos back. The only reason I kept going back was hoping to recapture the taste that made me stay in Willimantic. But not a single nacho used to be soggy, and the cheese stuck to the plate, you could pry it off with a knife and every single bite was amazing. Now it's very greasy and unlike the nachos of yesteryear. I don't blame current management for not knowing that it was different in the past, but I am still very sad to lose what once was. Go for the beer, though. It's still great.
Great place for a good meal! Plenty of parking off street. Large inside a historic building , lots of charm . Food was excellent. Had a local sour beer was fantastic. Wait staff was fast and professional.
Basically a spacious pub having a touch of historic exterior and interior. Ambiance and services were great, if not superb. But the American cuisine didn’t hit my tastebud well. I took Basket of Onion Rings and Summer Peach Grilled Salmon and both were okayish in taste. Not sure about other dishes, might be more delicious. Dietary restrictions: almost no options for those who wants to consume HALAL food and beverage.
I came here on my way back from picking up my sister from eastern Connecticut state for lunch and service was very good. We came here at 12:30 and we actually got seated very quick. For an appetizer we got nachos and I got a Cesar salad for my meal with grilled chicken on top. The salad also comes with some bread and instead of regular butter you get beer butter which kinda made the bread taste like a cinnamon roll which was a great touch. This brewery is actually pretty friendly to bring kids and you can buy glasses if you want to put them on display.
This restaurant is the central hub for the city for sure. Always packed during opening hours. The jambalaya was very good. Worth going back a few times. Dietary restrictions: They ask if you want a gluten free menu when you walk in.
First time here! Beer and cocktail where amazing. I always excited to something non-beer as I'm allergic but my husband love it. Poor man works so hard to find places for me anyway, back to the brewery! The atmosphere inside is very charming. Must be an old post office or bank. We saw a lot of food walk by, which it all looks great. We ended up ordering the nachos with blackened chicken. Huge pile of chips and cheese but lacking chicken throughout. And the chicken was burnt. I know I ordering blackened but to that means spicy with Cajun season, not over cooked burnt to a crisp! With being said, we would still come back.
Great place! We went for our son's 21st birthday lunch with a group of 8. Nice selection of beers on tap. There was an Octoberfest specials menu which was really good in addition to the already great menu. Will definitely be back!
Great choice of beers and a unique setting inside the old building, food was good too
Got into the back room where sounds were reduced and the old guys could easily hear each other. Hadn't been here for a few years. Still has good selection of brews and a diverse menu. Missed the deviled eggs special. They got snapped up earlier in the day. Best potato salad I've had in a long time. Vegetarian options: Had extra spicy sausage faux Jamaican sandwich. Satisfying. Parking: Can be crowded at times as it's a popular spot. On street parking available if lot is filled.
Probably worst dining experience we've had in a while. We were going to see a comedy show at UCONN so we researched area. Made a reservation 2 hrs before the show thinking that's enough time, NOPE. We ended up with a pretzel and 2 beers. Had to cancel our order just to make it late to the show. Save yourself the trouble and go to Cumberland farms.
