My mission/vision is to change the way consumers feel when shopping. Consumers are ultimately looking for comfort, security, and great experiences. Today if you were to visit any mall or boutique , you would see PLUS SIZE ,PETITE, and WOMENS in bold font staring you in the face forcing you to look more at the sizes and less at the actual product. It takes the adventure out of shopping for that prefect black dress or blouse. My boutique will cover the lines drawn in the sand that separates plus,petite,and women and put the adventure back in the hearts of consumers. Decorating the boutique with encouraging words can also help with confidence, positive outlooks, and an overall good experience. It has been shown through the Special K Organization , Oprah, Dancing with the Stars contestants and many others that if you read words of encouragement rather than looking at picures of models on the wall dressed in the same outfit you're trying on(which is very discouraging), it causes you to look more at yourself and see you in the mirror instead of how you should look. People are like snowflakes, never two of a kind. We are all different and that is what makes us unique. Come by the boutique and you'll be reminded of that.
I want to open a boutique because I love to shop. I love creating new styles and mixing vintage with modern looks. I want to change the way people feel about themselves when they walk into my store or any store. For example; you walk into a store, your looking around at the different selections and you dont see anything that stands out. Nothing's catching your eye. Then all of a sudden you find this gift, this piece of clothing whether its pants, a shirt, or the perfect shoe and you know you have to have it . Great quality , amazing texture, and your prefect size: SASSY. If that feeling wasnt enough , you turn over the tag and it is insanely affordable . You just want to burst inside. You have this smile of excitement that never leaves your face. That is my reward. That is when i know I have succeeded as a businesswoman and as a company. That is what makes a customer a 'Regular'.
What you wear has alot to do with how you feel. I would rather have the consumer feel good about their size rather than isolating them from the other sizes. Plus Size items are always in the back with little to select from and Petite is always in the front with the best selections. That layout alone can make someone feel discouraged. It forces you to see the difference in selection as you travel to your section. Clothes are supposed to make you feel warm, safe, positive and ambitious.
Coed Couture is not just a boutique, It's a platform. After boutique hours, the shop can be rented for fashion showcasings, poetry reading, book signings, private showings for interior designers, photogragphers, arcitects, and fashion moguls . It allows the community to view art in a new way. Coed Couture gives other designers an opporunity to showcase their talent and grow into their own. 5% of proceeds will be donated to the San Joaquin Delta College Work- Study Program every month to give oppotunity and possibility back to the community.
If I am granted the opportunity to open Coed Couture it would be the beginning of a new age. It would solidify the change in how consumers shop. Coed couture could change the way consumers think of themselves and how they feel when shopping in the boutique. If this opportunity were to be granted ,I would run with it and I would not stop until I have made a difference.
